I am from Australia and hoping to be in London for New Years. Are there any good family type events in London or the surrounding areas that would be cool to go to. I am not really interested in clubbing or music parties. More fireworks, maybe a band and a few drinks and relaxing. Or even fairs or that type of thing.

The worlds best fetival is in Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 07>08 will be another fantastic four day festival. Once again expect bands playing all types of music and performers from all over the world.

What’s On
Details of the 2007 programme will announced later this year. In the meantime, here's a taster of what happened in 2006.

It started off on 29 December in a blaze with the spectacular Torchlight Procession. Thousands gathered together to follow a Viking long-boat up to the top of Calton Hill where it was ceremonially burnt.

The celebrations continuted on 30 December at the Night Afore International when George Street turned into a carnival of colour and with the extraordinary performance of Germany's Theater Titanik and others.

Unfortunately, The Royal Bank Street Party, The Concert in the Gardens and The Ceilidh in the Gardens were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

The fun continuted on 1 January at Holyrood Park with families, friends and those looking to blow away the cobwebs coming along to join in the The One O' clock Run, Iron Kids Duathlon and Edinburgh BicycleTriathalon

Trafalgar Square in London is the best - but head to Scotland for a real New Year celebration! They do it much better!
