This past saturday was my grandmothers 67th birthday. we had a little barbecue over her house. We all having a great time when it was time for her to open her gifts I gave her a card.In the card it was some lottery scratch off tickets lucky sevens she like that game. My Gandmother has a good sense of humor so I figured I would buy a bag of depends for her as a joke that says Happy Birthday On It. I gave it to her she looked pissed off then sad. later on that night my parents are yelling at me because I insulted her. What the ****?

when it comes to things like incontinence most people would keep a problem like this to themselves. You may not be aware of her circumstances - perhaps she is having problems and you embarrassed her by outing her secret. I have irritable bowel disease and quite often almost have accidents - I would be pissed of if someone gave me depends if I thought that it was more than a coincidence but a dig.

Let me be as Nice as i can ok.
Jokes can be funny and they can really hurt some one badly too.
Always think of how you would feel if some one does a joke on you,andif your parents got you depends in front of every one.I think that would hurt you and Embarrassed you..
So Joe,Please some how get together with your grandma (alone) and really tell her how sorry you was for you was Only trying too make you laugh,and you was not thinking she needed them,just that you was playing around.Please let her know that Joe.
Joe please do it before she really looses it.
Tell her you love her and it wont happens again,and how you made a bad Joke ,and your human and you make mistakes too and give her a hug,and make it like you mean it Joe.

I would have laughed my head off. But, she may have been
embarrassed if she does wear them. Tell her you are so
sorry that you embarrassed her & that you didn't mean it to
hurt her. You could also tell her that you don't think of her as
being old enough to be a grandmother. Most people do not
know I am 66 and grandma to 8 and eventually great grand
kids. My kids have teased the life out of me because I always
said I was 29. She will calm down soon and hopefully your
parents. Sweetie, please don't lose your sense of humour--
I thought it was delightful.

This gesture was an insult to a 67 yo woman. Although she probably doesn't need Depends right now. However, in the future. . . she might, but she doesn't want to be reminded of that fact. Its scary, kind of, getting older and not being sure how you will fare healthwise. Her feelings may have been hurt due to you being insensitive.
But I have to admit that the fact she looked "pissed" off because you gave her a box of Depends for her birthday was kind of funny.
The truth is, people may be offended by anything at all that people give them, and they try to analyze it psychologically. Dang, sometimes I think it might be best not to give gifts at all, except maybe what someone asks for specifically.

that gift of depends was very inappropriate to give someone who is her age. all you can do is talk to gradma and tell that you are sorry and you assume that she could appreciate that gift giving her great sense of humor. you need to apologize to everyone there and move on. thats it thats all. maybe it would have been funny between you and her but not in front of the whole family. just be mindful a future gift to anyone. Senior citizens are plagued with the thought of not being able to do even the most rudimentary of tasks that we take for granted. Although your 'gag' was funny, putting yourself in another's shoes would have made you realize the sensitive nature of sucha joke. Next time offer a little humility with your humble pie.

LOL thats funny , i did the same thing to my late mother and she wasnt even 50 yet lol, Exceopt in my case i found a send away for a sample in a magaine so i did that used her name and had it sent to her house, boy was i pleased when it arrievd in parcel form on the day i was there she got all excited because she recieved a parecl of some kinda and tore it open in the street which was fairly busy at that tme, she thought it was hillarious as it was a running joke between us since i was abotu 12 or so when she embarasssed me by announcing she was off to buy me a bra at the top of her lungs in a busy shopping centre from that day on it was GAME ON!!! and we had been doing things to embarass each other ever since.
I say good job!!! prehaps your grandmother will see the funny side of it, you coukd always explain to her that you meant no harm or offence.

You have a really twisted sense of humor.You probably think that it would be funny to give a pair of shoes to a legless man. Aging is not funny and most people try to approach it gracefully. Your attempt at humor was way off target.

Its funny but then again not...you never know she may actually have to wear them...its sad but some people do old and young...maybe she thought you might have been making fun of her in a mean way...maybe it embarrassed her and hurt her feelings....i dunno...just have to talk to her...try to explain that you wasn't trying to be hurtful ..that you thought she would get it as the joke you thought it would be...

Urinating on themselves is a thing that some old folks do,You may have truly embarrassed her. and that isn't funny if you wet or smell like pee all the time. Just apologize to her. She may have a problem and you may have guess right on the money.
