Well, dogs don't have periods, but she is likely to have her first estrous cycle at about 8 months. However, just as with humans, there can be great variance in puberty.

Female Boxer Puppies

As others said, it is not a period. They come into season somewhere between 8 months - 18 months. It depends on the dog. 11-12 months is more common. They will bleed for 21 solid days. Sometimes more. The smell is pretty bad. And you cannot leave them in your yard even for a minute. The musky smell travels over a solid mile, calling any intact mutt in the area.

Some female Boxer bleed worse than a human woman. For a guy, it is a true eye opener when you are having to buy feminine hygiene products and changing bloody sanitary pads every 2 hours for your dog :)

Well everyone answered but just to let you know my boxer came into heat at 9 months. From personal experience that is the most common but it could happen a little before or a little after. If you are thinking about breeding I highly suggest doing research and DO NOT breed her during her first cycle. If you have any questions feel free to E-Mail me. I will answer any questions for you.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU8PN

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Female Boxer dogs can come in to season anythime from 6 months to a year

Do you want to sound like you know what you're doing. OK then listen to me.
1. No dog has EVER had a period. Its called ESTRUS or HEAT or even IN SEASON.
2. ESTRUS is the exact opposite of period. Periods occur when pregnancy DOES NOT take place.
3. ESTRUS is the uterus PREPARING to EXCEPT pregnancy.

It really makes you look inexperienced to refer to it as a period.

But, to answer your question USUALLY since all dogs can be different it starts between six month to a year.

Its not usually referred to as a period. It's called eostrus or a heat cycle. That usually happens between 6 & 8 months, but it can start earlier. PLEASE be very careful with her, dont leave her outside unattended for a MINUTE, that is literally how long it can take for a dog to jump the fence and mate with her. And that would be awful. I have some suggestions for dealing with the heat cycle if your interested email me.

62 days for the pups to come. the last matting is when you count 62 days. the first time is 6mos about. do not let her get pg then second heat is best. 12 mos. then you can. when the last matting is done you can figure from that date. if you are matting with another one be sure and let them just go cause if you sto it there won't be many pups and you can have trouble with her having them but if you let her breed naturally all the time then theere will be many and you can help take care of them the runt will have to be fed byhimself to live. take care.

usually between 6-8 months of age and then every 6-8 months to follow. they will come into heat for one week, be in heat one week (this is when they are most fertile for breeding), and go out of heat a week. so for a total of 3 weeks she will be in heat. she might be a little more whiny than normal.. mine is.. she needs lots of attention because she doesn't feel good.
