We had two pizza boxes on the counter in the kitchen both were half gone one was only ham and the other had onions on it. We just went to put them away and found the boxes on the floor! My dog had ate them both. I know onions are poisonous to dogs. What should I do? He is about 75#.

There were a lot of onions, big pieces, on the pizza. That is what is worrying me. It may have been equal to 1/4 an onion or so.

I was on my way to put the left overs away. We had a movie on TV the pizza on the kitchen counter so people could just help themselves. When everyone was finished I was on my way to put the pizza's in the fridge. I would never leave left overs out for longer than needed and he has never jumped up to get something off the counter before, I had a roast on the counter alone once and he didn't touch it. I guess there was somethng about the pizza he liked.

A one time feast of onions shouldn't hurt him. It is eating it more often that it causes the hemolytic anemia.
You may end up with very messy poop though!

Yeah onions are bad for dogs.. And you should avoid them getting into onions, onion powder etc. But a couple of slices accidently isn't going to harm or kill your dog.

i've never heard onions are bad for them and dont' think so i thinkyour dog was fine and is fine just remember next tiem put in the refrig. i am sure hes ok.

The same thing has happened to me..lol..
But, relax.. My dog is fine. Zoeie looked like she was going to explode but, she turned out just fine. I had a bigger mess in the yard than usual but it passed quickly.

Your dog will be just fine maybe just a tad of a tummy ache or a little diaria. Please just put up the leftovers in the future so Fido wont get at them.
