here is the definition of faith

"n a) belief and trust in and loyalty to God; belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b) firm belief in something for which there is no proof; complete trust"

I just don't understand how someone can put all their trust into something that has no evidence to support it. Maybe you can help me out on understanding this?

Living by faith? In a way, don't we all. I have faith I'll take another breath of air. I have faith that I may wake up yet again tomorrow and live another day. Faith is not seeking to believe in something that is possible, but something that is probable. God exists by its own nature, although is often misunderstood. Here's a small, but logical reason for your faith that I just thought of. The Bible tells us that God is Love. When you were born, you knew love. The love between a mother and her baby exists, outside of learning how to, or why, it just exists. Another way, that can be logically realized. When a baby is born, and is put up to his or her mothers breast, the newborn baby knows what to do. 9 months being fed through a tube into the belly button, and comes into this world knowing what to do to breastfeed. The baby doesn't have to learn to. No one has to push his mouth and force the child to do, the baby just knows. What does that tell us? Baby's are born with intuition. The internal knowing or wisdom. Throughout history, we've seen that true wisdom comes from within, and is not a product of the limitations of human intellect. That is proof that there is something other than our physical beings which exists. So, something small, but so profound as this can be your foundation to logical reasoning. So whenever you question your belief, remember the process of a woman giving life to a child.

There is definitely evidence for God. There's just no proof. Faith doesn't /need/ evidence, but the evidence is there, and serves as building blocks for the foundation, which is the belief in God.

Faith itself by definition opposes logic. you know that.

so if your question were IS FAITH ILLOGICAL? then the answer would definitely be YES of course.

but the question of HAVING it isn't necessarily illogical. i mean, it's logical for a desperate, hopeless man to have faith. he has nothing else, and it would make sense that he'd have faith so that he'd at least have something. but for a man who has a lot of hope to have faith, well, that makes sense too, coz you can't hope for something without having a little faith in it. so the answer to your question IS HAVING FAITH ILLOGICAL would have to be NO.

that's what i think.

speaking of logic, that's what the scientist philosopher Newton used to try to prove the existence of God, but of course, to this day, it's still a common but interesting topic to debate on.

You are trying to equate faith with logic. They are polar opposites. Where there is proof there is no need of faith.

Most people just don't get it but I think you will. God does not want us to have proof just yet. He uses the world to separate those with faith from those wthout faith. Why? Because He wants ONLY the faithful in HIS home (heaven).

Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Believing is seeing.

Sure you understand. You just don't know that you do. Think of it like this. Do you have evidence that proves that air exists? (and because it blows is not evidence) Why would you keep breathing this invisible stuff if you cant see it? Just because you can't prove it doesn't mean it isn't there. It just means that you can't see it. If your still breathing, try putting your faith in God, it will change your life.

a little bit of a different perspective: Everybody, whether they believe in God or not, has faith in something.
It takes faith to believe in God, or in Evolution or in nothing at all, because, the truth is there's aspects in each of those that we just have to trust, because we don't know and nobody knows.
Our universe, the complexity of it, as well as the complex creation of the human body are more than sufficient evidence of God. It didn't just 'evolve'.
Having the choice of trusting myself, God, Evolution, or nothing at all I'd rather trust in God.

I guess that is why it is called faith. You can't prove it wrong either. Anyway, you should really stop asking these questions. Embrace the fact that Mr. Potato (Head) God loves you and that there is life inside of his giant onion after you die. You don't want to be left out for asking silly questions like these do you?

to the ppl that must have a sign it is illogical, to the ppl that love God its logical. when i try to explain from my experiences some dont want to except it was from God so i guess i wont go through my testimony now. ill just say ive tasted His goodness so therefore it doesnt matter what i see at this moment i will not give up on God!

Spock----Knowledge is the beginning of wisdom not the end.

Faith is the evidence of things unseen, the substance of things hoped for. As quoted in Hebrews.
