you are a hypocrite if you go to Church.
I know enough about your religion, which states in your bible, you are the church, not the building.
Why do you not follow your religion?
Stay tuned for another edition of atheism beats Christianity again

ever heard of metaphors? or symbolism? it appears all through the bible.. apparently you don't know "enough" about anyone's religion... because then you'd know the truth. and who are you to be calling anyone a hypocrite?

Theoretically, you go to church to 1.) worship, 2.) learn, and 3.) give and obtain support. However, the point about your body being the Temple of God and you being the Church (just reflecting your words) are well taken. You CAN worship and learn without going to church. But you CANNOT get support without being in fellowship with others. Your Bible does say, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10:25 (New International Version) So you are following your religion when you go to church. Remember:

"There is no God." - Nietzsche
"There is no Nietzsche." - God

I'm sorry you think it is a contest.
My body is the temple of Christ, because when I participate in the Holy Mass, and receive the Holy Eucharist, which is the real presence of the body and blood of our Lord, I become universally connected with all of the church, all in a state of grace, all over the world, both living and departed.
That is my reason for going to church.
Keeping my body, the temple, pure from defilement of thought and deed, is my personal responsibility and remaining in union with the rest of the church is also
my responsibility as a Christian.
I DO follow my faith.
perhaps you do not understand what it is to be Christian.

the bible also says "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." it can be energizing, encouraging, and uplifting. it also helps to feed your soul the word of God. there are still alot of scriptures i dont yet understand and if i had a home church im sure there would be someone that could help be better understand. when has atheism beat christianity? i still love my God, pray to my God, worship my God, and read my Gods word!

I may be a hypocrite, but you are a fool.

I go to church for the same reason I go to the gas station ... to replenish my supply.

I receive the grace necessary to feed my soul by going to church .... much the same way I replenish the supply of fuel for my car at the gas station.

The church dispenses grace. The gas station dispenses fuel.

Each serves a unique purpose in the world.

A temple without God's grace is just about as useful as a car that's run out of gas.

Get it?

Your question is clever and catching. Yes, the Christina Bible declared (St. Paul) that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (therefore of God). St. Paul declaared that to stressed a point. His message at his time is for Christians to be Holy and not do what the worldly men and women of his time. He was preaching about making a difference to a culture of sexual permissiveness (Corinthians), drunkennes and glutonny. In refferring our bodies as temple of the Holy Spirit means , to purify it for GOd is pure and noone impure is worhty of Him.

Christians still go to church because the church is called as a COMMUNITY not as an individual. As a community , we affirm our faith, we worhip God together and we do Christian service together, thereby grow as a COMMUNITY OF FAITH.

Actually church is only a building. It's only a gathering place where you can share and listen to others so you can develop more your body as a temple of God. Hope you have a gift of knowledge so you can understand.

It has been this way from the advent of Christianity due to the fact that only those of noble birth or in the church could read and write so gathering together was the only way to spred the word and the concept of what each preacher/rabbi...etc. wanted to say

Because if you read a little further in the book you apparently know so well, you'd read "When 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, there i am in their midst." We go to have fellowship with other Christians and with God.

Going to Church is for fellowship, worshiping God together, to know each other, and pray for those who are in need and help them.
