It is a common problem when people move between countries. They find that they are unable to obtain the same type of work that they had in their own country.

What is the reason, racism (it would stop some companies hiring, but not all), language ability (this is quite common), attitude (sometimes immigrants come across as too humble or to arrogant), qualitifications (maybe over or under qualified for the positions), different ways of working (maybe the structure is different and the jobs don't exist).

Here are some things to try.

Resumes. I rewrote some students resumes, and after that they had no problem getting work.

The job you apply for. Are you really qualified to do it. Maybe you need to spend one year doing the lowest job in a bank, to learn how the American system works. Maybe you need to be applying for higher level positiions, depending on your qualifications.

Be creative, maybe you need to be aiming at America's diverse financial institutions, rather than just banks. Maybe you need to be applying where there are many people from your husband's country.

Talk to the personnel officer at a bank. See what they think, get an honest opinion. They will tell you what they think is wrong and how you might fix it.

Finally, maybe he needs to study locally.

Good luck.

Have him go to employment agencies in your area. He may need their expertise to reclassify him into an allied position. It sounds to me that he could fit, depending on his ability to communicate, into an accounting or accounting manager position.

What qualifications and experience has he got. What's his forte? You need to zoom in to these before asking for advice.
