Go for high fiber and low fat. Make sure you also have some protein in there. Kashi makes a whole line of great products. Look at the sugar content and do not be fooled by cereals that claim to be "whole grain" or "smart choices. Just because cinnamon toast crunch claims whole grain, it is packed with sugar and empty carbs. Also don't fall into the granola trap. Sure it's made with good stuff but it is typically high fat and calorie with as much as 300-400 calories in a half cup and 10 grams of fat. You might as well have eggs and bacon ! Your best bet would be to visit a natural foods or health food store and don't forget to read labels. Follow the portion size as well, usually 3/4 to a cup. Use skim or low fat soy milk to keep calories and fat under control.

All cereals that say "Made WITH whole grain" dont qualify as a whole grain cereals and are not that healthy at all.
Kashi is the best cereals you can find in regular food stores but there are many more in health food stores.

It has flax seeds which are very good for you. They also have an instant oatmeal that's good. You can find it health food stores but some groceries have it too.
