Basically, no religions state that violence is necessary but they practice forms of ostracism that can lead with time to bizarres and sadistic form of violences... Think about the Catholic Inquisition and the millions of people who were decimated.by fire.
Some religions practice great virtues of fraternity and charity without questioning others motives. These aren't gangs of wraiths!
I am not a believer, so I have no one to fear. But if you have fear of God, well, human folks, wathch your ***... and don't think because you are priests of some sort, you are automatically holy! That isn't so in the Big book!
Best way to play safe for all, even for Atheists is to practice a very simple life rule I learned from a wise chinese friend: "Love all fellow men, trust very few and wrong none!"
A very universal rule of good life.

(1) God is loving and merciful. He is also steadfast, which means that at times we have to pay for the mistakes that we make.
(2) When I die, my eternal soul will enter the kingdom of heaven. I am assured of this as I have entered into the covenant of the New Testament.

Never did it say anywhere that it would be like that, but if you have not accepted Christ as your savior, or you have denied God, you will go to hell where there will be gnawing, and gnashing of teeth, so it is basically saying that if you go to hell you will suffer many pains, but if you go to Heaven yo will come before God in his majesty, and you will infer about your life.
