My dog was in my yard when an unneutured dog came up and started mating with her. The entire time she was growling, but she never stopped him or tried to get away, she just let him continue. They were together for about ten minutes and the he got off. They did it a few more times and she did the exact same thing. They actually did it about 12 times but i think that only 3-4 were more than 7 minutes long. My dog came from the pound and the pound told us she was spayed, but my old male dog that is now passed on, also tried to do this. So could my dog be preganant?

And I wasn't there when any of this was happening, my neighbor told me about it, plus the dog was still in my yard when I got home. If I would have been there, there is no way I would have let them do that. My dog I to precious to me to have ever let something like that happen.

Depends on how the vet spayed her, I hope they had the dog spayed AT the pound and you didnt take there 100% word for it. They would have had to see a scar and she would not have gone into heat before they told you she was. If they did not witness the spay they should have at least advised you to take her to the vet and have them do an examination to see if she had a proper scar and hormonal level to be sure.
If they are 100% sure then she may just have a hormonal issue, due to leaving too much reproductive tissue in at the time of spaying. It doesnt mean she will be pregnant but it does mean she will accept any male during her mock heat session. If the male didnt tie he didnt ejaculate or penetrate correctly. Alos WHY IN GODS NAME did you let them do it 12 times? Are you silly? Take the dog tomorrow to the vet, have them look for a scar, if there is none, and they DONT think she spayed, get her spay at that time and then you wont have puppies, and I would give the bill to the pound you got the dog from since they didnt do there job correctly and gave you wrong information.

Kinda would have been nice if you added your additional information in the begining.
NO your dog wont get pregnant. Shes spayed and has NO uterine Horns to support puppies. Shes just hormonal and will go into mock heats.

i think 4 months might be a little early to have been spayed. if she was spayed it is not possible for her to be pregnant. i have actually had a dog come into my clinic that came from the humane society with the little spayed tattoo on her belly and scar and everything... they must have over looked her because she was pregnant. you can have a dog spayed while she is pregnant, you will be aborting the litter though. just a question, if you say the other dog mount her why didnt you stop him or call animal control or something?

If she wasn't spayed, she would have been in heat ( swollen vulva, bloody discharge) every 6 months.Has she been? If,in fact, she is spayed,I doubt that she would let a male dog tie with her,but you never know.I would take her to a vet to be absolutely sure.Oh,and why didn't you chase the male dog off before he got her,or at least, after the first tie? But to answer your question,if she is spayed, then NO,she absolutely cannot get pregnant,as she would have no uterus or ovaries!

Oh,and my old vet always tatooed dogs when he spayed or neutered them.

If she is spayed she cannot be pregnant.
A dog will mount another fixed dog to establish leadership.
How long has this been going on? Is there any sign of bleeding? A ***** is only in heat for a few weeks. A ***** is only in standing heat, receptive to a male, for a few days. This dog is probably still giving off hormonal ques to the other dogs that mean nothing.

If the the pound where your dog came from did actually spay her (most are responsible enough to do this before they release a dog for rehoming) then I would say no, your dog is not pregnant. Dogs mate, even once they have been spayed/neutered, but if you have any doubts, I'd contact the pound where you adopted your dog and ask them to address your concerns.

greyghost is wrong about the tattoo... they often do that for ferrets, and maybe feral cats, but dogs are not tattoo'd when they are spayed. None of my pets were ever tattoo'd when they were done, and I've used several different vets over the years.

If the shelter said she was spayed, most likely she is. Humping is not always mating, a tie must occour for it to be mating. The male was probably trying to assert dominance and claim territory.

I hope not, but there is always the chance of a typo or a paper mishap along the way.

If she is, then insist the pound spay her after she has the pups.

When you give/sell the pups to a good home, make it a contract they they be spayed or neutered within six months. Just as soon as they are old enough.

If she's truly spayed, no she can't be pregnant. There's no way, because they remove the dog's uterus and ovaries, so they cannot get pregnant.

When a dog mounts another dog and humps them, it's not always sexual. It can also be a dog showing dominance over another dog. When the dog being mounted doesn't pull away, it's basically that dog showing their submission to the other dog.

If she is spayed, she will have a small blue tattoo on the inside of one of her ears which they do as to mark a dog as spayed. Also check her stomache, you can sometimes tell where they had the proceedure done, some small scarring maybe!
If you are still unsur, take her to the vet and get her checked like everyone else has already said. :)

Not unless the vet who performed the operation was a scam artist. They take out the reproductive system. They don't block it, they actally take it out.
Can't say what was happening with the canine copulation bit in your backyard, but I would hazard a guess. It was probably a false scent the female was putting out.
I've seen false pregnancies on my old dalmation, and there was no way she was pregnant. She was spayed, but her teats would tell a different story about every six months.
