It makes it less nasty. I know some people who also put ketchup on it. Which is weird. And unpleasant.

I have put polish sausage in it, ground beef and I also put onions it is. I then put it in a casserole dish and put Italian style bread crumbs on it and top with grated cheese and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. My family loves it this way.

. I love just Mac. and cheese. If U enjoy the taste of sausage slices than it must make it taste good to U but no this does nothing for my palette I have heard of the ketchup thing though. If it's a cheep kind and the cheese sucks then I can see using ketchup, I'm not into much meat though.

Try putting in extra shredded cheese right after you drain the noodles and put them back into the pot. Make according to directions. Put mac n cheese into a casserol dish, melt some butter or margerine in a pan and add enough bread crumbs to soak up the melted butter. Brown them a bit and spread on top of mac n cheese. Bake till bubbly.
Yummy!

My husband puts goats milk and goat butter in it instead of regular and it is quite rich and good like that. I have made it with browned ground beef, onions and added fresh cucumber and tomato chunks ( cook maybe a minute when all together over low heat to let flavors blend).

Yum. You've got to put somthing in it. I've put in cooked ground beef, hot dogs, more cheeses, peas, tomatoes, vegetables, herbs, horseradish, crab, shrimp, tunafish, turkey, ham....
But not Ketchup!
