Hi! I've been having low grade fevers the past month, ranging from 37.7-38.6. I went for checkup, and the MD said my x-rays are clear, my bloodworks are fine, even my GIT exams like UA. My RBC count doesn't indicate anemia, and my WBCs are in the normal range, i had a negative test for typhoid fever. I've been having cough, but the MD said it's non-infectious. At first, she gave me carbocisteine for my cough and cefaclor, with some paracetamol for my fever. When the fever did not resolve, i was placed on a week of Loratadine, coz she thinks it might be allergy related, and ciprofloxacin. Usually, the fevers start in the afternoon, and came everyday since it started. I noticed some days when the fever occur i have pounding headache, but thought it's just an effect of the fever. I still have dry cough, and my sputum are clear. I am worried why my fevers do not resolve. I couldn't start looking for a job because of it. Please help me. thanks a lot!

Have you had yourself checked for Tuberculosis.? Low grade fevers esp in the afternoons might indicate Tuberculosis. I know because I used to take care of pts in sanitarium with this consumptive disease. Do you have night sweats? Other causes of low grade fevers might be allergies and drug reactions.

It might be of an infectious source like Acute Valley fever.
the symptoms tend to resemble that of a flu and can range from minor to severe::

fever, COUGH, ,chest pains varying from mild feeling of constriction to intense pressure- like in a heart attack;chills, nightsweats, HEADACHES, fatigue(CFS) , shortness of breath, joint aches, rash like painful red bumps or raised red rash with blisters and eruptions like pimples .

If you don't become ill from valley fever, you may learn that you have been infected by a positive skin test, blood test or when small residual areas ( nodules ) which are evident on a routine chest x- ray. Altho' they don't cause problems, these nodules resemble like cancer, leading to unnecessary biopsies.
.

If you do develop symptoms esp severe ones, the course of the disease is uncertain. It can take from 6 months to a year to fully recover. Fatigue and joint aches can even last much longer. The severity of the disease depends on several factors including your overall health and the number of fungus spores you inhale.

Chronic Valley fever:

It's more common among diabetes people or with weakened immune system. You're likely to have periods of worsening symptoms to periods of recovery .Signs and symptoms are similar to that of Tuberculosis( TB)

Low grade fever, cough, weight loss, chest pains; blood- tinged sputum and again nodules in the lungs.

Check into this. I hope this help. Very interesting question.

The human body temperature can range from 97 to 100 degrees F. (For women, a normal body temp can be slightly lower) But if you are feeling ill, your temp fluctuations could likely be from infection. YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR. Antibiotics could be necessary, or you could have a serious condition that needs medical attention. Infection and many medical conditions very often cause fatigue as well.

It can be the onset of something serious, yes. Or it could simply be something like chronic sinus infection. The headaches would also be a clue to this. Do you have a "sweet tooth" by any chance? Just a hunch.

OK, you need to see an oncologist. It may be the beggining of something serious (sorry, I dont mean to alarm you, but better safe than sorry). They need to run more spesific tests and take some biopsies too.
Good luck
