How are you trying to prepare them? Generally, you need to soak dried beans in water overnight. If they are red beans as in kidney beans, start them first thing in the morning. Boil with salt. When they start to soften, add sauteed onion and garlic, oregano, basil, Sazon Goya, a bay leaf, pigs feet, chorizo, and simmer on low. Serve over white rice. In total, the beans should take 6-8 hours, but the longer they cook the more flavor they get. In your crockpot, once they have softened, throw everything in, put it on low, and cook until dinnertime.

I use my crockpot all the time. I love it.
Here's what I do for red beans.
I use 1 pound of beans, a med onion chopped, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder, i also use about 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, and about 1 pound of (low fat) smoked sausage. I use low fat because the regular makes a lot of grease on the top, but you can skim it off if you'd like. I put about 5 or 6 cups of very hot water.
Turn it on high for about 8 hours, may take a little longer.
That's it....when i get home, all i have to do is cook the rice.

I'm sure you could find many recipes on something like meals.com but what I do when I cook pinto beans in my crock pot is, first, clean the bag of beans with running water. Sometimes there are little rocks within them, then put them in your crockpot and cover them with water. If you want to you can add a can of crushed tomatoes. I like to add the ones that have bell pepper etc. in them. Put them on about Medium and let them cook all day. You can add any kind of spices you like. I love a crock pot of beans along with some cornbread. Mmmm think I'll make some for myself.

I agree with Melvin except I would not cook them overnight. You have time in the morning and do not want them overcooked. You can expedite the cooking process by boiling them at some point. My advice is to use little seasoning until they are served. They taste so good with just a little ham over white, fluffy rice.
