There was a time when teen pregnacy was shocking, when marriage was sacred, when integrity wasn't square. Can we as a people turn the tide?

I'd like to think so, but the Bible says that in the end times, people will grow more wicked. It's like a snowball rolling down a hill effect. I do not want to seem the pessimist, I just think I'm being a realist.
I remember those days also, but with God out of the schools, and relativism and humanism replacing Him, and the rampant materialism that is daily ingrained on the populace, it does seem highly unlikely.

The consciousness within man is waning!
Mans conscience is therefore decaying!
Free will has taken precedence in mans life and "Truth Faith" has been forgotten!
When "True Faith" diminishes so does a quality called "Grace"!
Humans scoff at this and deny this fact, because the "ego" has become deep-rooted and overpowering.
Only when man learns to subdue the overpowering "ego" will the necessary balance be regained, making it possible for ethics, morals, and the values that are truly important in mans life, to rise to the surface.
Can man turn the tide? This is a question that must be directed to each individual human being.
This is no doubt one of the most important questions of our time! Thanks for asking this question!
May we all search for the answer to this question within ourselves!

I see that I have been given objections to my answer. It's a good thing that it was not asked in the question, as to what the repercussions would be if we can't turn the tide!!

Peace be with you!

Teen pregnancies where never considered shocking. decades ago it was more the norm for women to marry and have kids young. It is rather considered unfortunate but even then, why judge them? Age doesn't determine whether you will make a good parent. Nothing has really changed except that people just aren't as discreet now so what was once kept behind closed doors is now overt. Or another way of looking at it is that people are now more honest rather than being 2-faced and pretending that they don't get up to what they actually do. Ethics, morals and values are still regarded highly but people have in general become more accepting of diversity.

Big D, I fear that we can only change such as this if this nation turns back to God! Yes, if we, as Christians, can agree to live like we're supose too, I think the nation would change and that God would, "heal our Land." But, we must turn away from the world and all it offers and most people do not want to do that.

Too bad, as I do remember when all the things you mentioned were a staple in this country! Morals, values and so on!! Unfortunately, the tide changed and now, we are all out to sea! However, like Peter, with faith, we can walk through these murky waters of societal woes! Only through keeping our eyes on our Savior!

We as a people will turn the tide when we care about having ethics, morals and values again; when we all agree that homosexuality, teen pregnancy, adultery, abortion, etc... is ethically and morally wrong again.

We need REVIVAL!

Selfishness is the root of all evil. There are more people choosing the pleasuring of themselves over the well-being of others for whom they are responsible for; and, if they are not responsible for any others, they are choosing to remain that way instead of contributing to the well-being of others. Two examples: 1) a married person chooses to leave his/her spouse and family to chase after his/her own good pleasures, and 2) a person actively chooses not to love or care for another as doing so would take away from his/her own selfish pursuits.

yeah and that was the same time when it was ok to hang a man because he was a diffrent color then his GF. that was the same time when women went to collage to make a good catch, and the same time when periods were called "the curse"
societies change that is the nature of the world nothing stays the same. and its not that morans and ethics and values have been placed on the back burner as you say , it is that what is concidered moral and elthical has changed, and that what is valued is diffrent then from the time you remeber. not bad or wrong but diffrent.

The days of blind obediance to moral codes handed down to you by your parents are over. That's sad for some, liberating for others. It seems unlikely that a reversal can happen short of instituting a theocracy, which would be much more immoral than anything else going on.

Well marriage should not be sacred. Its just a man-made social custom and, lets face it, its obsolete.

Ten pregnancy is not shocking because its happens frequently. Thats not because of lack of morals, its because of lack of education. When previous generations decided to spend more time earning money than parenting their kids, kids grew up without a lot of the education that good parenting provides, and then they had kids, and the cycle continues until we make education and parenting a priority again.

What we have today is televsion. Televsion makes its revenue by advertising. In order to have people sit through the commercials, televion has to be exciting.

People are pretty much as moral as they've always been. It's just that all the lousy stuff is more interesting than hearing that in the lives of countless millions, nothing awful happened.
