It may make your dog fat, usually food for large breeds is formulated to work differently because they grow at such an extreme rate when they're young. I suggest taking it back to the store and exchanging it for the kind you need. Also, just to be sure your dog likes it get a smaller bag to test it out so you don't waste your money on a big bag that your dog hates. Be sure to mix in the new food with the old food as well, so your dog's stomach gets used to it.

It won't hurt your dog, it's just not ideal nutrition for a 2 year old, probably too high calorie unless your dog is very active.
It doesn't matter whether it is mini bites or not, it does matter if it is good nutrition. The first ingredient should be meat - not a by-product. It should not contain corn meal or fillers or preservatives. Supermarket dog food is not very good nutrition for dogs. Try to get something good, like Canidae, at a large pet store or feed store.
Good nutrition should be close to 30% protein and 18% fat - it costs a little more for high quality dry, but it's cheaper in the long run than vet bills for an unhealthy dog.

The fact that it is large breed food isn't as big of a concern as the fact that it is puppy food. Puppy food is much too rich for an adult dog. Take it back to the store and return if for an adult version.

I have two dogs, one is a 105 pound Great Pyrnees, and the other is a 15 pound Mini Schnauzer.
I do not feed them separately. Pepper, the Mini Schnauzer is about two years older than Mattie, the Pyr. So, for three years, Pepper ate Large Breed Puppy Chow. She thrived.
I do not believe there will be any problem at all.

Compare the ingredients on the new food with that of your old food. My guess is, they're the same. Dog food now has nutritional charts like human food. Compare those too. If you're comfortable with the comparison, bon appetit poochie.

puppy food has a higher fat content that puppies need. it isn't healthy for an adult dog to eat it.. it doesn't have the nutrition he needs. the breed size is a lesser worry.
