I have an HD Sharp Aquos 42in LCD TV but I can't change it to it's full resolution of 1920x1080.

This is stopping me from getting the full potential of it's HD output eg. I cannot set my Xbox 360 to match my TV's maximum resolution, whenever I try to set the Xbox to 1920x1080 the TV says Out of Range.

The TV then shows that the resolution is infact something like 1280x720. This then leads me to believe that the TV is broadcasting currently in 720p.

Could anyone help me with changing the TV's resolution?

There is nothing to change.

The TV always displays at its native resolution. If it is indeed a 1080p TV, then it scales all input signals to 1080p.

The TV also may accept 1080p signals only through HDMI. If you try to connect it to your xbox via component, maybe 1080p input is not supported (but the TV will scale the 720p input to 1080p).

Your television has a 'community determination' of 720 and not something you're able to do will replace that. the television will immediately convert 480 or 1080 to it particularly is favored inner layout of 720. in case you spot numbers - this is telling you what the exterior contraptions are feeding the television - no longer what the television is incredibly showing. Netflix is extremely low determination to enable streaming. Gaming from a GameCube or Nintendo is 480 or much less.

You can't change the display resolution on a television, like you can on a PC monitor.

It is set at the factory.
