My fiance' and I have been enduring the constant bash of what's known as a "workplace-click" for nearly 2 years now. We are one of two couples working maintenance for an apartment complex with 312 ,..soon to be 348 units. My fiance' and myself do 3 times the work of this other couple yet they seem to get away with sheer murder half the time. They always get comp time,...time to spend with their grand-daughter,..etc, they have recieved 5 raises to our 1 raise in the last 3 years. They have a neat little gameplan set up to keep them at the top and anyone else who comes on board at the bottom. I've been taking plenty of notes on their actions and schemes,...can I prove any of them?,..yes,....a few. When we started this job our employer told us we were considered equals. 2 years and tons of work later,...they make this guy my supervisor ???,....When I've done everything he's done & more for this company. I went from an equal to a gopher,....any advice before i have to get nasty?

Quit...obviously you have been under-appreciated at your job and you've let this go on for 2 years without saying anything about it. If you say something now, they'll just look at you like you're crazy and wonder why you never bothered to speak up before. Plus, if you say something now, then it will just cause a whole different set of problems on the job for you and your wife. The last thing you want to do is let 2 years of penned-up anger to explode now.

If you are truly unhappy with this job then leave it, now, while you still have a good reputation with this company. At least you can use them as a reference for you next job. Plus once you leave, the management will notice how lazy and incompetent this other person is, and eventually fire him. I know this may not be the easiest decision to make, but at the same time you cannot continue working in a position that obviously causes you so much frustration. And you cannot continue working for a company that cannot see you for what you are really worth. No one deserves to be under-appreciated.
Just take this as a life lesson...Now you know what you are willing and not willing to accept from an employer. Also, learn to speak up at appropriate times; don't let something upset you for years.

Start looking for a new job...
I hope I helped and Good Luck with your problem

depending on where you live the fact you are keeping notes can be borderline illegal, so becareful. I take it from what you are saying that this is a privately owned apartment complex or atleast something thats non union. You might be able to get some advice for the National Labor relation board or Department of Labor in how to proceed, and in some ways it sounds like a hostile work enviroment. I would suggest looking at doing what you are at another location and when the right thing presents itself move on as it seems that 2 years going and they havent figured out the truth of the matter, they never will.

good luck

It sounds like a frustrating situation. The only suggestion I could make would be to take your notes to your employer and let them know that you will not accept this kind of treatment and want an equal rate of pay and if you don't and nothing is done about the unfair amount of work you will be forced to leave.
You might even consider taking what you're got to a lawyer and seeing what rights you have in terms of the law.
Goodluck.
PS. You don't want to have to leave on bad terms as you've been there for 3 years and if you try to get another job, without having a good reference, it might make it hard to get that job.

Find a better job where the employer doesn't treat you like crap.

Have you talked to the higher ups about this? As in higher than the supervisor?

Find another job that's more to your liking. When the big boss sees that some of the best employees are leaving, hopefully he/she will realize what's going on.
