Hi! I have just posted a question relating to interview tips, and I have gotten great feedback. (I have an interview I am worrying about at midday) People are saying that I should ask the interviewer a question or two. Generally what would you ask your potential employer? (This is a post-production film company, I am applying for a junior accounts assistant position) Any advise would be greatly appreciated.. I need to land this job! :)

The 3 for me that never fail to get me remembered are

1) How long have you been with the company? (then let them answer)

2) When they have answered 1, ask what keeps them there?

(if they have already said in the briefing how long they have been with the company, skip 1 and go straight to 2)

These are great questions because it really looks like you are planning to stay for the very long term!

3) Whats your companies mission statement? (they all have one!) usually throws the panel into a bit of a flap as they SHOULD know but 9/10 they don't, that will get you remembered and again, for the right reasons! (I used to interview people and I never forgot that question especially when my collegue also on the panel turned to me and said I'll let you answer that one grrr!! She got the job based on skills and THAT QUESTION made sure I remembered her with a smile! I use it now and it never lets me down!

As someone who interviews regularly, I'm sorry Kate (above answer) but I would not be too happy to hear:-

How does the company work with regards to career advancement? This would lead me to believe they just want in on the company and not this position and are gonna leave at the first possible internal vacancy they are qualified for, leaving me having to interview again.... Just my thoughts on that!

Good luck with the interview

Ask questions relating to the job.

I.e.

What are my future prospects?

Do you promote from within or do you advertise all jobs?

Are there any further qualifications you recomend I take to enhance my prospecrs?

What would you recomend for further advancement?

Do Not ask questions about wages or holidays or sickness entitlement.

If you have time research the company and talk about past projects they will be impressed that you have taken time to research them.

Good Luck
