12 yrs ago I suffered a heart attack while driving to work. After a short term blackout, the car went over a 27ft drop. I did manage to get back up to the road, but with a dislocated shoulder, two neck fractures, 4 thoracic fractures, and impact paralysis from the waist down. The pastor of the church I was working on and several of the members passed by. The pastor and a few others slowed down and looked before going on their way. Two of them very carefully looked at the opposite bank. After an hour and 45 min. a half drunk garbage truck driver stopped and called an ambulance. When I got back on the job, the pastor showed up first thing in the morning, jumped back in his car and left! The site superintendant said that he and the others were there every day, as they had been before, untill the morning I got back. Only 1 came by after that, but it was a gentleman who had been out of town the day of the accident. Is this how religious people are suppose to "take care of each other"?

IF THIS IS A TRUE STORY!? I'm looking at having steel rods through my entire blasted spine before my kid is grown, and I get a bunch of crap trying to make it sound like its made up? The old rule just left, thumbs down for anyone who acts stupid instead of simply answering!

Found out a truth didn't you. I had a stroke back in '83 and know the only person who would help me? A friend who happened to be a prostitue. My family wouldn't take me in, and couldn't get help from anyone. Since then have been down and out many times, turned to religions only to get disappointments until I turned to friends who were drug addicts, drunks or prostitues. I found out in these times "why" the best friends of Jesus were of these kind of people. Believe it or not these friends have more compassion for another in their little pinky than all the religious peoples or family in the world put together. I know, I have been there.

No, that isn't even how human beings should take care of each other...and religious people should certainly know better.

You said no excuses, but are you sure they knew you needed help? The slowing down certainly seems to suggest that they saw you (I assume you were lying beside the road?) and if they did, then they were obligated to at least stop, especially if they profess the be following the teachings of Jesus.

Their behavior after you returned to work doesn't answer the basic question about whether they were ignorant or deliberately unconcerned but it provides a clue. If they thought you were ok when they saw you on the road and didn't stop, their behavior could indicate that they feel guilty for not realizing you needed help...however, if I was in that position, I'd have visited you in the hospital to apologize.

One thing you might want to keep in mind...if they are avoiding you for whatever the reason, it is most likely becaue they feel guilty...perhaps God is dealing with them and trust me, he can do a much better job handing out justice than you can!

No, this is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught. We are suppose to help and love our neighbors. That means the pastor and whoever else passed you sinned because they saw the good they should have done and did not do it. I am sorry this happened to you and hopefully God may send some Christians who genuinely care and love your way. So many people out there say they walk with the Lord but do things like this, sad. Jesus said you would recognize His disciples by their fruit. These believers who do not walk in love do not know God or Jesus. My friend do not let this interfere with your faith in Christ, look what Jesus did, believe in Him, and follow Him. God bless.

Too bad about your nasty experience. Your story reminds me of the "Good Samaritan" from the Bible. Read it ... it will answer your question in a way you will be simply, amazed !!! You will find this parable, in the New Testament of the Bible.
For the record, I have both, received and given "care" from very responsible Christians and there are many Christians in my city, who are devoted to serving the needs of the needy !!!

No, though seems you lived through the parable of the Samaritan. It is unfortunate that all who call themselves by any religion do not always live up to the ideals or teaching of their religion. I do hope though your bad experience has only effected your trust of religious people and not your faith. Faith and religion in this life is hard to reconcile over many circumstances.

You have no doubt read the story of the Good Samaritan?I was told many times that not all people in churchs are spiritual people. Who'd need a minister like that? I'd do my worshipping at home, that church is not worth worrying about.

I'm very sorry to hear that.
This is exactly the type of thing Jesus spoke against. I agree with the earlier comment about the Good Samaritan. However if you harbor bitterness against those who neglected you, you will find yourself becoming just like them.
God gives grace to the humble.

If this is a true story there is NO excuse for the behavior of those people...... No decent human would have passed by without stopping to help in some way...... May I ask if you are sure they saw you ?? ....... If I were you I would have confronted the people who passed by....... A preacher , pastor, priest, IS to be rebuked for such action by the elders, deacons of the church house........ I would not have let this action go unnoticed by the flock that is following this man........ go in peace........ God bless
I and others meant no offense, geeeeeeeee, on the internet who knows for sure, it was ONLY a statement...... we do NOT know you .......... *Sigh*........... a little bitter are we ????
PS..... the downs do NOT bother me at all......

The kind of Christian you describe is not a true follower of God/Jesus. If they were, they could not have behaved in such a way. Many people claim to be Christian or believers in some other religion...but they do not have a meaningful relationship with God. It is that relationship, not the title that makes the difference in the person. If your story is true...I wish you the best....and I sincerely hope that God will be with you.

No , No, No, A thousand times NO!
No excuses.
So whats is your beef.
They crucified Jesus for us all, you and me included.
Do you think it was painful?
Edit: I wont tell you what they did to me but, I will tell you this
I am as fit as I can be, for a 47 year old man, I am a warrior for God. Only three things make me weep 1. the loss of a sole to the Devil 2. The truth in Gods word 3. Weddings.
Now you can laugh.
