Twice. I can't tell you about the first, except to say the man was a deacon in the Baptist Church, hired me to do a grunt job for day labor, started throwing religion at me toward the end and telling me he wasn't going to pay me.

The second, I was coming out of a bar in Houston, Texas late one night in 1966 or 67. A guy in the parking lot was knee-walking drunk trying to change a flat tire, waving his fist at the sky and cursing God.

I offered to help and he started throwing religion at me ... I looked a bit hippy in those days .... came at me with a tire-iron.

He got hurt and I got as far away as my jalopy would take me pronto.

My altercation was not physical but verbally. This man at a parade that was behind me tried to create a verbal altercation ref. Christianity. At the beginning of the parade there was a group of young kid giving out tracks and there was one carrying the cross as their statement. I applauded and shouted, "THANK YOU JESUS." The guy over me shouted to me, "There goes your family why don't you go with them." I replied, "I am walking with them and I carry my cross everyday and pray for people like you." "I am ready to go with the Lord because I'm with the Lord; are you ready to go? Are you with the Lord? I'll pray for you and God Bless You." After that he did not say a word.
Mattew 10:16 - "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."

My brother-in-law recently read 'The God Delusion' so he has taken it on himself to purge me of my (atheist by the way) Buddhist religion.

Nothing physical, but he gets heated.

I have nothing against atheists (like I said, technically I'm atheist) but it does goto show; any strong believer in something can become a fundamentalist at heart.

I get in arguments with my husband over religion...He has passed His chance to be a preacher as He was called from the Lord,,now He condemns everyone because of his anger..I pray for Him to see that Jesus loves Him all the time,,,I have to show Him Jesus in me..

Sorry, I think it is stupid to get that angry that you would actually get into a physical fight with someone over religion. There are more important things to be worrying about.
