I was getting into a truck at work, and this customer was standing right behind me and said "Damn girl, you're turning me on" which I thought was TOTALLY inappropriate and ridiculous. He did appologize, but I am still very uncomfortable being around him. Should I tell my boss? If I do, what could she possibly do about it?

To answer a question someone asked.. I work at an airport and we drive trucks full of fuel to the planes. I was not getting into the truck provocatively, I was getting in the way I normally do. I was wearing long pants and a short sleeved t-shirt. Its what I am supposed to wear to work. I in no way asked for harrassment if that is what you are hinting at.

For Heaven's sake, take the compliment you cowgirl. Perhaps checkout your backside in a mirror and see if those pants are too tight. What in the world are you so bothered about, you seem so wrapped up in PC that you may be losing your sense of humor or humanity. Get over yourself.

Ignore the person who said, "Maybe you shouldn't have been turning him on." That was an inappropriate thing to say. Just because you are good looking, that does not give anyone the right to sexually harass you. You're a victim. No one should blame you for the actions of a pervert.
Anyway, it would be a good idea to talk to your boss. Let her know about what happened, just so that she knows what's going on...and keep an eye on that customer. Even if he stares at you, and it makes you uncomfortable--report him.

does he work for the airport?? if he does you have addressed it as far as you can he apologized, which means he understood you do not want that type of treatment. If he does or says something again you go to HR and report him.
Also because you still feel very uncomfortable around him make sure you are never alone with him, in a closed room. I know on the tarmac you are stuck there I mean in closed spaces.
If he does not work there or is contracted in follow same things just have all his information to give to HR if you have another problem and they will contact his job.
They still have to follow rules even if they are contracted in.

This is completely inappropriate. You should definitely report this to your boss. Your boss could do a number of things. Here are two possibilities:
1. Switch you to a more comfortable situation.
2. Tell the customer your company will no longer be taking his business.
You have the right to work in a situation that's safe and comfortable for you.

Yes- it is important that you tell your boss as she can help by making sure you are not in situations where you might be alone with that individual.
Its also a good idea to start up an incident form where you write down an altercations you have with this person.
I wouldn't make an official complaint or anything yet. Just record anything that happens, date it and write down the names of any witnesses. If it gets to the point where it is happening alot or its happened too much and you've had enough, then give a copy of your incident to your boss and make that complaint.

Hi LeeAnne,
Yes, I would definately tell your boss exaclty what he said, and that you would prefer if another employee were to wait on him next time he comes in.
That kind of "hitting on behavior" is often what gets an innocent woman kidnapped and raped. He sounds like a sick pervert that needs to be avoided at all costs. Have someone walk with you to your car when you get off work.
You may even want to consider reporting him to the police.
Please take this matter seriously. And if your boss does not recognize the seriousness of it, I would look for another job---working for a woman!
Please take care.

This was definitely inappropriate behavior, and it should be reported to your supervisor. You should simply advise her of the situation and let her know that he has already apologized for his mistake, but that you wanted to alert her to the situation should there be future problems. The real trouble with keeping things like this to yourself is that, should they start to become more frequent, you don't have any documentation that they've happened in the past unless you have shared that with someone.

He apologized. He may have suffered from temporary stupidity. It sounds like he realized he stepped on his "little head."
If you're working in a traditionally male-dominated profession you'll learn to a few light-hearted quips will put the boys in their place, and win their respect.

Would you have rathered he said he was turned off by the sight of you posterior?
Seriously though - he apologized & you're still considering running to your boss & making a complaint?
You do that & the rest of your co-workers wont want to know you. They'll know you as a dobber & not to be trusted.
Only if the unwelcome behaviour continues should you consider complaining.
Hey, lighten up.....no-one died as a result of his action!

You look at him and say..."Dont talk to me like that." ...if his advances are unwelcome. Just make sure to do it in front of other people. Afterwards, you go to your boss and tell her how you had to 'handle' this guy. This way, if it happens again, she is aware of the situation and can put him in his place and flush it.
