If so, what is it?

WWJB, that is not the koran. That is from the Jewish bible. Jesus teachings are the new law, the law for Christians. Christian law is not in Deuteronomy, even though that is a part of the bible.

Please answer the question, if you aren't afraid to be honest. :-)

Thanks.

The quran has a few references that definitely tell of allah's wrath and suggest punishment on earth and in the afterlife:

16:106 - Whoever disbelieved in Allâh after his belief, except him who is forced thereto and whose heart is at rest with Faith but such as open their breasts to disbelief, on them is wrath from Allâh, and theirs will be a great torment.

5:54 - O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion (Islâm), Allâh will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him; humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers, fighting in the Way of Allâh, and never afraid of the blame of the blamers. That is the Grace of Allâh which He bestows on whom He wills. And Allâh is AllSufficient for His creatures' needs, AllKnower.

There are more Hadith references though such as Bukhari:

"Allah's Apostle said, The blood of a Muslim, who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases: In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims." 9:83:17

Narrated 'Ikrima: 'Ali burnt some people and this news reached ibn 'Abbas, who said, "Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as [Muhammad] said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for [Muhammad] said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.'" 4:52:260

God Bless

I am often puzzled by the fact that each time I answer or ask a question in the Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgendered section, I get sent to the Religion and Spirituality section. Is that the reason why you are here? Is Yahoo trying to tell us something?

And as for the question about the Koran (Spelled "Quran" as well, by the way!)? I have heard of incidents where people have been beheaded in certain extreme countries (I wont mention any names, as I want to be politically and sociological correct) for converting to other religions. On the other hand, from what little I do know about the Holy Quran, I also know that they talk about religious tolerance quite often. Which means, no one should take offense if you were to convert to any other religion.

There is nothing that specific. The penalties mandated are for all non-muslims or infidels which technically, muslim apostates fall under. It basically says fight and kill them. Kill them all!!!

8:12
(Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."

5-33
The recompense of those who wage war against Allâh and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off on the opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter.

8-39
And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allâh) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allâh Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allâh), then certainly, Allâh is All-Seer of what they do.

33:60-62
If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for adultery, etc.), and those who spread false news among the people in AlMadinah, cease not, We shall certainly let you overpower them, then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbours but a little while. Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and killed with a (terrible) slaughter. That was the Way of Allâh in the case of those who passed away of old, and you will not find any change in the Way of Allâh.

No there is no penalty for a muslim who converted his/her religion to christianity, jewish religion or any other religion even atheist. In the holy Qur'an Surah 2 Al Baqarah verse 256 (2:56) Allah the only one God spoke No force to enter Islam religion.Really it is clear the true/right path and the wrong path.Someone who disobeys idols and believes in Allah really he/she has tied into the strong rope which will not be cut.Allah is omnipresent and omniscient and also hears everything. In 2:257 Allah is the protector of people who have faith.Allah takes someone from the darkness into the bright ness..The kafirs or infidels protectors are satans who will take them from brightness into darkness. They will be the inhabitants of hell eternally. In Surah 3 Ali Imran Family verse 3 (3:3).Allah has given holy book (Al Qur'an)for you which has given before Taurat (Torakh) and Injil (Bibel) In 3:4 Allah spoke that the holy book is a life guide for humans .All hu mans who do not believe in verses of Qur'an given by Allah will get very heavy tortures and Allah is almighty .
So its penalty will be given by Allah the only one God after death.

Yes, he or she would be among the walking dead. Those folks have big time objectives for our Country too. Kind of unrelated to your question, but I found it interesting...

Said Omar Ahmed, chairman of the Board of CAIR in a speech to California Muslims; "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Qur'an should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth" [32]

to my understanding, Allah revealed both the scriptures as a word of god to guide the people to path to Allah, however the torah and the gospel both have been corrupted by man and it is not just the word of god, but also the word of man as well. the quran has been revealed as a criterion to judge the two previous scripture as to which statements are correct and which have been fabricated. a muslim who knows this and still goes away from islam is like that person is rebelling from god. Allah says in the quran (4:137)Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them nor guide them on the way.

Per the Koran there is a penalty, but the Koran is not the truth, so it makes no difference. Jesus is the only way!!

[29] And say: "The truth is from your Lord." Then whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them . And if they ask for help (relief, water), they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible the drink, and an evil Murtafaq (dwelling, resting place.)!
Quran Ch18:29
