Christians, if I may indulge in your doctrine for a moment, perhaps you can help me...

1) I didn't ask to be born, or to be born human, or to be born sinful. These were all events TOTALLY out of my control

2) When I was born, because I was born human, I was AUTOMATICALLY flawed - sinful, and therefore destined for damnation.

3) But, your god (because he sacrificed Jesus) allows me to "exchange" the ticket he gave me at birth with a new ticket to HEAVEN, as long as I agree to embrace his son, Jesus.

4) In the event that I refuse this magnanimous offer I have NO CHOICE but to go where the bus I never asked to be put on takes me - Hell. Who put me on this bus? It certainly wasn't me. Granted I have a guaranteed way off, but I have to make an effort EVEN THOUGH I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO DESERVE HELL in the first place. I was just unfortunate enough to be born human.

So if god doesn't send me to hell, then WHO did put me on the hellbound bus? I was just minding my own business.

sin is the cause of people ending up in Hell...

"EVEN THOUGH I NEVER DID ANYTHING TO DESERVE HELL..."

um, yeah, you did, the last time you ever told a lie to someone or took something that didn't belong to you, that was a sin, and all sin leads to Hell and eternal separation from God...

unless you're willing to repent and accept Christ's free gift of salvation...

Hey Diane, I was raised in a strict Catholic home and it doesn't bother me because people are going to believe what they want regardless of how much others try to convince them, and if it is true that God sends people to hell then I suppose they will find out the hard way, I myself have some doubts about the bible and I really don't want anyone to be offended by that, it's just I have become a bit distant with religion because it's a neverending argument. Have a great day.

From what I read no one answered who put you on that bus.

It was the church. The church is the best manipulator of all time.
Some of these people said you have a choice. What if you are 2 years old and you were suddenly killed. Horrible event but that child was never old enough to turn in his ticket aka find Jesus.
So the church gave you this ticket so you have to go and give them money to be forgiven. Historically this is how it was. 5 francs and 5 Hail Mary’s and your sins are washed away.
It caused fear and controlled the masses. The church ruled most of the world and the Pope was the most powerful man. Instilling this in people was the best way to prevent a rebellion.

the problem with your post is that it is totally logical, flawless, and can't be argued against by using any cohesive, rational line of thinking.

Since they can't attack it on logic, they resort to double talk. They will tel you that you put yourself on the bus because you chose not to go their way. Which obviously is total bullsh** but they can't admit it because if they do, big bad white man with a beard in heaven will maybe strike them dead and send THEM down on the bus to hell.

It is so so so hard to argue with Christians because they don't argue logically and they side step, double talk, evade, etc, until you want to scream! Here you have this great question and will it make any of them SEE THE LOGIC? Almost certainly not. Their blinders are fastened tight, and they cling to those blinders because they are afraid. They are afraid to piss their god off, and even more so, I think that deep down, they keep those blinders on bc if they took them off, they would see that there is no god.

I loved your question! Great job writing it!

Something is NOT right, The first three things you wrote of seems reasonable Somehow I suspect that that BUS, is your choice, that you refuse to get off off. I think by the words written by king David & the apostle Paul in his letter to the church in Rome sums it up for ALL, since Adam I also thing you can get off that bus anytime.----if you want to

No, you didn't ask to be born, but your parents (at least one) wanted you to be born or you wouldn't be here! Yes, you were born human because both your parents were human. No, you were not born "sinful"...instead, you were born with the individual responsibility to choose between right and wrong, between good and evil.

Becaues you were born human, you were destined for death...your parents knew this when they had you...they knew that they were creating something that was destined to die! Your parents put you on the bus to death by allowing you to be born...God is offering you a chance to get off that bus!

Heaven and hell are irrelevant unless you believe that we are all immortal in some way...that some part of us survives after our physical death. If our existence ends when we die then your questions are pointless...there is no hell there is no heaven.

OK, so assuming our "soul" (or whatever you want to call it) continues to exist after the death of our bodies. What will that be like? We won't have eyes to see or ears to hear or vocal chords to speak...we won't have hands to touch or skin to sense temperature or nerves to relay pain to our brain...oh yeah, and our brain, the part we use to store and process information, that's dead too. So what will this existence be like...what senses will we use to perceive that environment?

Why can't people grasp the simple fact that we can't possibly perceive what a life after death will be like using our earthly resources? If you want to think in terms of hellfire and brimstone and enternal pain and torture, feel free...for me all those descriptions are based on human perceptions of an existence none of us could possibly fathom! People can't even describe what their soul is like when it's inside their own body...how could they possibly understand how that soul will operate when it is removed from their body?

The message of God is simple...death is inevitable for all of us and that death will lead to something called hell. God will evaluate (judge) each of us to determine if we have what it takes to exist in his reality...if we do, he'll take us off the bus and let us live with him. I don't bother trying to imagine what hell would be like...what matters is that God says that existence with him is better.

If you want to blame someone for sending you to hell, blame your parents for allowing you to be born...and be grateful that God loved you enough to give you another option.

hello print ninja, its me.

as for your question:

lets say that God didn't exist.
Of course you could still be nice to people (as in not murdering, not lying, not stealing) but this is all for your own survival and to increase your chances of reproduction.

when you question and give logical reasoning, (example: if I cannot catch an animal i should eat plants instead), it is all derived on survival instinct to a certain degree.

when you do not lie and steal and murder, it is so you are not lied to, stolen from, and murdered. not for the sake of others you do not do bad things, but for your own.

when you love and make friends, it is to increase the amount of male humans who are friendly toward you (survival) and to increase the amount of females friendly toward you (reproduction)

However, most people obviously wont just admit that their lives are just simply based on survival and reproduction, and will always seek deeper purpose. from a secularist point of view, you could say that society has evolved, but human thinking and instinct has not due to lack of natural selection, so obviously people would have the same instincts, just within a different situation. I will attempt to explain each of your claims scientifically.

You didnt ask to be born- you cannot control that, after all your brain only consists of lobes and nerves: OOOTTAFVGVAH, the order they are in. i shortened it for lack of interest and space. "you" in your essence are only brain tissue and cannot ask to be born.

You are flawed because survival instincts don't match up with the state of current society. the way our spinal reflexes and cranial responses aren't 100% conformed to society, after all, genetic variation, correct?

You do not have to believe that jesus literally "rose again" to go to heaven, I believe. I will not get into discussingheaven, for lack of interest, but after all, people only remember others for the impact they made. Jesus taught us morals and how to live, think of all the good deeds that were done in the name of Jesus Christ. However, you could bring up the other side of the extreme and bring up violence associated with religion, but this is wrong and therefore irrelevant in the current context. Surely atheists have morals too, and believeing in Jesus' morals doesn't hurt anyone.

Some take the bible too literally on this one. I don't want to stereotype, so I will speak from personal experience. Most people who are not religious have less sense of morals than people who are religious. Hell and Heaven are in your mind, if you do good things, you will feel good about yourself, and you will be in "heaven". If you do bad, eventually guilt and lack of love and depression will lead you to "hell".

I like your analogy, I will revise my answer tomorrow, its 1'am here, and I cant think that straight when I'm sleepy.

LOL & there is the $64 question. I pull out a gun and say worship me or feel great pain for not doing it.

Well here is where it gets tricky... You have physical parents. Now lets say your parents are helpful, loving, caring, always there for you and just. You like this in them so share their ideas/values and are always welcome in their house. You share a tight bond with them until you die. Now lets say you do not share their beliefs. You steal from them, do not follow their rules, knock them, disrespect them. You will not have this bond with them, or be welcome in their home. You will be welcome with others who think/feel like you do (the ol birds of a feather saying:.....

Now lets take it to the next level. God/Christ is just doing the same thing. If you resepect him, follow his rules, and such then you are welcome in his house & will have this strong bond. You act like having somebody who loves you, cares for you, will always be there for you, is some type of curse. If "YOU" choose (it is your choice after all) to go live with another family, do as you wish or they tell you & adopt him (in this case Satan) then you will not be welcome in Gods house but be sent to live where "YOU" picked to live. Do not confuse religon with God (which you are doing). Salvation as defined by Christ is rather easy & takes little effort at all really. Salvation defined by "the church" is all but impossible so dont worry about it. Go the the source (the words of Christ in the bible) and you will see just how easy it really is. The books the John, Luke, and those who were with christ & dont put so much into the later books cuz they are for the churches to follow and not the individual.

Open your eyes and realize the bus is an illusion. The only ones trying to keep you on the bus are people who think they were on it and got off it.

Peace to you.

LOL... Sorry Print, you'll have to be satisfied with an array of Believer responses, all ducking and dodging the real question... "Does God exist?" ...and you know you'll be getting the same old lies and omissions of the facts.

Acknowledgment for any of the things you've clearly expressed, for the simple truth of your existence and everyones, just won't be forthcoming from the choir of angelic god-believers - they, so it seems, prefer to live with the falsehoods they've learned to sing so well.

I guess you must have picked the wrong set of ancestors... they were apparently guilty at birth and now you are, too.
