Ask your doctor about Zomig. Its in the same family as Imitrex, but has proven to cause less side effects in people.
Also, you can talk to your doctor about alternate therapies, such as pain management (pain pills) or managing the migraines using blood pressure medicine.
Good luck!

Excedrin Migraine works for some people, but not everybody. Most of the time, if you are looking for an OTC remedy, the best option is to take Advil or Motrin, and chug a coke or two (or have coffee, for the caffeine, which is the ingredient in Excedrin that helps it work). In all honesty, if you have the opportunity, you should walk away from your computer in case eye strain is the cause, and then lay down in a dark room for a little while to see if pain subsides. Cold compresses on your neck/forehead can be helpful, and a heating pad is also something that can provide comfort. Not sure if this is the answer you wanted, but they are some at-home remedies that work for *me*...everyone is different.

If you are having problems with Imitrex, there are several medications which might help. There is no single best med as every patient reacts differently.
If you have more than 2 migraines per month then you should be considered for medication to prevent the headaches rather than just stop them.
You need to work with your health care providers to find the best solution. If they cannot get it under control, request a referral to a headache specialist.
Go to this site:
www.headaches.org
look at the educational resources under the patient site. Try filling out the headache diary to figure out why your headaches recur. See the Headache diet for dietay triggers. And read the page on "How to Talk to Your Headache Doctor" so you know what to report.
Good Luck

What type of Imitrex did you use? There are pills, nasal spray, and injections...
The nasal spray makes my migraines worse.
The pill doesn't work at all unless I take it right at the onset of my migraine and it makes me slightly nauseated.
However, the injections work wonderfully for me... I give myself the shot, lay in the quiet darkness for about ten minutes and my migraine is gone and, unless it is a horrendous one, don't come back.
If this medicine is making you feel worse than the migraine itself u may have an allergy to one of its ingredients. I would find out what is in it and speak with my doctor about possible allergins.
