What generation are you?
My grandmother always had one. But my parents have always put bread in the refrigerator. Maybe now because a fridge can accomodate so much more there is no need for a bread box? Plus I think it would have something to do with modern bread having many more preservatives than bread made years ago.

Nah, I just give the bread wraper a good twist to seal it up and stick the leftover piece of wraper under the weight of the loaf of bread and put it in my cabinet. If you look in wish catalogs you'll find some bread boxes.

My mother lived on a farm. She had one and I guess they got alot of insects in summer anyway, most eat out these days and the old full time moms actually cooked every meal and it included bread. People don't realize the way it used to be.

I just got rid of mine because I always forget about the bread in it and it turns green. But I like the idea of a bread box.

No I don't but I remember my grandma having one. I think its one of those things that they thought helped save the life of bread but in all reality it didn't help anything it just created clutter. Plus doesn't bread go bad faster if it is in the dark???

I grew up with one, but now that I'm out of the house I keep my bread in the fridge. It doesn't seem to turn into a science experiment as quickly. Great question, thanks for sharing!
