okay, so i was putting some songs on my iPod and my iTunes said that it could update my iPod by putting the songs from my iPod onto my library (like the ones that weren't already there) and I wanted that in case my iPod broke, I'd still have all the songs on my library so I said "Ok" and then now, it messed up my iPod and deleted ALL my playlists and made them into like "90's hits, Most Played" etc. and some of my songs are MISSING and it won't play them on iTUnes, like the name of the song displpayed on iTunes is like gray, so I can't click on it. Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks, now I know what happened. My library only had 268 songs whereas my iPod and 536. It made my iPod identical to my library so it deleted all the toher songs that weren't on there. I thought it would go the toher way around. :( So I have some songs saved on my computer so I'll just put them back on, the rest I can ask my friend for because I don't want to buy them AGAIN! Thanks!

If you click on your ipod, you should see a screen (where you library normally is), and there should be some options with checkmarks. Check the one that says "manually manage this ipod". You don't wanna keep that unchecked unless you want your ipod's library to look IDENTICAL to your computer's.

Ok, first, did I read correctly that your music is on a computer? If so, just reset your iPod, then sync your music back to the iPod again.

Sometimes things get messed up when an update is applied. The best thing to do is always do what you already did, keep backups of your most favorite media onto your computer or other media. Then, when disaster strikes, you can just reset the device and reload it with your media.

If you have trouble resetting your iPod, just go to the Apple website and go to the support section. There you will find the steps for resetting your iPod. I am directing you to the site instead of giving you a step by step here because I truly believe if you do this on your own it empowers you to know you can fix things on your own.

Good luck and enjoy your iTunes and media.
