Well first I would be pretty pissed lol. Then I would know to not trust that person ever again. Also when you get a new cat, register it immediately under your name so that whoever gave you the cat, cannot ever take it back becuase then the kitty will be yourse.

No, I'm sorry, if someone gives me a cat, they cannot have it back because it is now a member of our household. I'm a cat person & I have taken once good friends to court over a cat.
And on all occassions, I got custody of the cat. I did, however, have to put a restraining order on a woman from our former Coven because she changed her mind about giving up a cat.

I wouldn't let them have the cat they gave the cat to you bottom line and the cat was thin obviously cant take care of it feed it etc

I would be upset. I would tell that person that the cat is mine now because you gave it to me. Fair and square.

That would depend on time-frame. If it were within a week then maybe OK...but if I had gotten attached to him/her, never!
