from the answers so far it looks like no one knows the time line. and to answer one of the replys i never said the earth was 6000 years old. this question isnt about the earth but about mankind

How to tell self or some one else how to figure out bible time line:
The age a son has a son [ or an event ], gives the time then at hand. Adam to Lamech is 1056 years and Noah is born, he is age 600 at flood year of 1656. Noah is son #10 in genealogy of Jesus.

So you really believe that the earth is only 6000 years old or so???
Never mind carbon dating... Scientist have bored out ice cores from the arctic that have separations very similar to the age rings on trees, that show the ice to be in excess of 100,000 years...
Ice. 100,000 years old. On the earth.
The earth is not 6000 years old.

Read the bible,use a concordance, a reference guide, a reputable commentary and some time and effort.

You can also go to a christian bookstore and buy one.

The bible is not in chronological order. God also used metaphors and parables, so that who ever has ears to hear his word, they will follow.

Just read the code, given to you in scripture, and preached to John, who wrote it in a book. If you don't see beyond the clouds, the "code" will overtake you.

Also, never put "code" anywhere near the Bible.

mostly the chronology of people was recorded from adam up to Jesus ... u can guess at peoples age and get a ballpark figure ..
