Yes there is a vast, ever increasing population. But there is also a vast landscape. When someone is buried in a cemetery they are left alone, unless a crazy artist digs them up to study them. Some cemeteries, such as Arlington Cemetery, just increases in size as more people die. And then many people prefer cremation then to being buried. So at least in America, Europe, and most of the world, there is no worry about your body being dug up so someone else can be buried.

Some areas do have a problem, I believe California is one of them, where there were running out of places for burial they were showing how crowded the cemeteries were, with the Old Large Grave stones. Cremation does solve a lot of the issues, being somewhat less expensive, and the burial of ashes, should take up less space It would be good to hear how they are solving the dilemma. In some European Countries, the graves including the Stone stay intact for 10 Years..Good question I will give it a star

For now in North America there is enough land that there is no "recycling". In countries like Germany, the gravestone only stays up for 25 years, then room is made for the next "inhabitant."

I dont know about any official laws, but in a cemetary in utah, graves that were unmarked/barely unmarked for 200+ years and had no look-ups were taken out to make room for new coffins. I dont know what happened to them.

depends what they were buried with!
I wan't be buried with a cell phone on hold with sprint, than in 20+ years some little kid will have the crap scared out of him while walking in a cemetery on a dare... "I swear to god dudes I heard god talking to the dead people at the pearly gates he said 'thank you for holding, how can I help you' !!!"

They don't do anything. The body stays buried forever. The body will decay in time, but it remains buried.

Well I've heard in Europe they reuse cemetery space, but I don't think they do that in the US. Churchs in the US after a hundred years or so tend to build over their cemetery plots.
Good question, I've never thought about it

no they do not remove the bodies after a particular time. if a cemetery is full then a next one would be out there with space let us not count our chickens before they hatch

They leave them alone!
In some places, like Japan, it is the law that you must cremate every dead body.
That's what we will have to resort to when the time comes.
I visit my ancestors graves, it's cool!
