forgiveness only takes away the guilt of smoking but it doesnt stop it.

if you think that you cant stop, and keep saying that you cant stop, then you wont stop.

what you could do is ask for God to help you stop smoking. i ask you.. what would you be saying if you stopped the smoking habit?

if you asked God to help you and in due time you quit smoking then you'd thank God for the help, wouldnt you?

so why not start saying that sort of thing now?

like a christmas bank account you would put money in it alittle at a time so you'd have money to buy christmas presents and place them under the tree at christmas morning.

same thing with faith. say now what you'd be saying in future.

the Bible says, "present your request with thanksgiving."
the Bible says, "speak of things that are not (manifest yet), as though they were (already so)."
the Bible says, "he that comes to God must believe that He is.. and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seeks Him."
the Bible says, "trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding but acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your path."
the Bible says, "be not weary in well doing for in due time you will be successful if you dont give up."

if you want to have assurity that you will not "be hell-bound".. then get saved.

Smoking is more of an addiction, a bad habit than a sin; although some may teach ANY abuse of the physical body - as the temple of the Holy Spirit - may be a sin.

As a Christian and an ex-smoker, I can tell you I never thought nor was I ever taught that smoking was a sin.

But I knew it wasn't good for me. So I quit!

If you need help try CHANTIX, the anti-smoking miracle drug. Good luck!

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Yes it is a sin anything that you do that harms you and you are aware of it is a sin. They can stop its called willpower. No you are not hellbound for smoking. If you believe in Jesus and are truly saved i think you could quit smoking for him...I mean how does this sound....I love Jesus so much that I won't stop smoking for him.

From a Catholic perspective, it isn't necessarily a mortal sin because of the addiction component.

Is smoking a sin? I never heard that before.
I am sure that praying will help you gain the strength you need to quit. Smoking is so unhealthy, so I will pray you're able to quit.

Nowhere in the bible does it say that smoking is a sin

No, we are just human. I smoke but I am saved and I don't lose that salvation by smoking. God knows our hearts and know that we are weak, not perfect like He is.

Because everyone's a sinner! No one is perfect! Every one has sins everyday!

If your talking about your body being a temple, some religions burn incense in church. Just because someone says what they think the bible means, doesn't mean they're right.
