It was the direct prophecy by Jesus, in the New Testament in the book of John chapter 16:2-3.

'They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

Isn't it amazing? Jesus gave us a guide to go by, and yet, so many in todays society are'nt willing to accept His Word!!!

RaijinCaijin,

Yes, and it would hold true for today as well, with the persecution that Christians are enduring at the present.

This verse just stuck out to me, because of the things that are happening in our world today, I was pretty aware of it being during Jesus time, but it just sorta struck me as interesting with the things that are happening today.
Thanks.

Well actually Jesus is talking about the Jews persecuting the new Christian sect. Remember Paul's name was Saul one of the biggest Jewish persecutors of Christians of the day. This is a prophecy but what Jesus fore told here has all ready happened 2000 years ago.

Just to add something. The early church after Jesus' death still worshiped in the Jewish synagogues and preached about Jesus in the synagogues. This would naturally anger the Jews who didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This would cause them to label the Christians blasphemers and inflict violence on the Christians. Some could say that Jesus' words here are prophetic but also you could say he was just stating the obvious!

Sorry!

SpeshLBrownies- Wow your way out in left field!

EDIT: I just read your addition and wanted to write a few things to you.
I understand how you feel and why you have drawn your conclusions from this verse. You have to understand though this is very dangerous not only for your own faith but for Christianity as a whole. Ill use Copernicus as an example. The prevailing though of the day was that the earth was the center of the universe because the leaders of Christendom used this verse Joshua 10:10-15. This is obviously a misinterpretation.

The Church leaders silenced a brilliant scientist who's only aim was to explore and understand God's creation. This is, as I understand it, the beginning of the well known division between science and Christianity. All because of misplaced piety.

The verse is talking about how the Jews were persecuted by the Christians. That's why these people (the Jews that Jesus was addressing) will be chased out of synagogues. And yes, the Christians did think that they were doing God's will in killing and persecuting the Jews. But you knew all that, right?

Just in case anyone is not convinced that these words of Jesus are about Christian violence against Jews here are a few quotes from Martin Luther.

"Their synagogues ... should be set on fire."
"Their homes should be broken down and destroyed. They ought to be put under one roof or in a stable, like Gypsies, in order that they may realize that they ... are ... but miserable captives."

"They should be deprived of their prayerbooks and Talmuds."

"Their rabbis must be forbidden under threat of death to teach any more."

The way you see it is not quite right. From the point of view of a Muslim though it is right because Jesus was a Muslim in the sense that he submitted himself to the one true God. His followers were therefore Muslims too even if the word Muslim wasn't used back then. And it's true people killed them and called their beliefs heresy. What a shame too because the trinitarians won and now the path of Jesus has been corrupted.

Sounds extra like Nazi Germany to me, or the explusion of the Jews from Spain in 1492 or England beneath Edward I. The Muslims by no means did whatever like that to the jews and correctly the Koran considers CHristians and Jews to be "folks of the guide" : "People of the Book" (Arabic ??? ??????, Ahl al- Kitâb), additionally "Followers of the Bible"[a million], is a theological time period, peculiarly concerning Islam, describing non-Muslim peoples who, consistent with the Qur'an, obtained scriptures that have been found out to them by way of God earlier than the time of Muhammad. In Islam, the Muslim scripture, the Qur'an, is taken to symbolize the final touch of those scriptures, and to supplant them as God's precise, last, and everlasting message to humanity. However, considering the People of the Book respect the perfect Abrahamic God because the Muslims do, and so they train found out faiths headquartered on Divine ordinances, a particular stage of tolerance and autonomy is accorded to them in societies ruled by way of sharia (Islamic divine regulation). The typically authorized interpretation is that the pre-Islamic found out texts are the Tawrat and the Injil. A dhimmi is a individual of the dhimma, a time period which refers in Islamic regulation to a % shriveled among non-Muslims and professionals from their Muslim executive: this fame was once at first most effective made to be had to non-Muslims who had been People of the Book (i.e. Jews and Christians), however was once later multiplied to incorporate Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Mandeans, and, in a few places, Hindus[two] and Buddhists.[three][four]

Yes.

And, in Luke 16 we are told that people will never "see" what is in front of them.

Rejoice in the Word of the Lord. And, pray for muslims that they may come to know the love and mercy of the one true God, turn away from evil, and enter the covenant of the New Testament for the salvation of their eternal souls.

Yup. You know, if the Jews had just listened and obeyed God in the Old Testament Muslims wouldn't even exist today.

If you are going to accept that aspect of "His word", then are you going to accept these aspects as well:

the murder of rebellious teenagers
the murder of anyone who does not believe in God
the murder of anyone who commits adultery
the keeping of slaves
the mistreatment of those slaves
forcing female slaves to "pleasure" their men in every way
prayer that does not work
abortion (if God plans every birth and death, then God plans every abortion... that's death)

When you agree to murder, not condemn to Hell, but MURDER, every non-believer, adulterer/adultress, homosexual, rebellious teenager, and more... then you can say you are living by at least HALF of "God's word".
