In simple terms:
>> Blood supplies fuel, nourishment and oxygen to the cells of the body.
>> Blood carries carbon dioxide and other waste materials to the lungs, kidneys, and digestive system for elimination.
>> Blood maintains the balance of keeping the body warm or cooling it off.
>> Blood has components (white blood) that fight infections by producing antibodies. White blood cells also attempt to destroy cells that have become infected or have changed into cancer or an abnormal cells.
>>Blood component called platelets produce clotting factors and function in blood clotting when there is bleeding.
>> Blood contains other important substances and nutrients from the food processed by the digestive system.
>>Blood carries hormones released by the endocrine glands and carries them to the body parts that need them.
>> Hemoglobin in the blood makes you look not pale. Insufficient hemoglobin will turn your skin and sclera look pale or yellowish.
>> Blood can help to tell the general condition of the body when tested.
>> Blood helps other people (through blood transfusion.)
>> In general, blood has very important functions in maintaining LIFE.

What type of blood cells are you asking about?

You know what, I just give you what blood is all about.
Besides, it will help me with my homework.

Blood is made of the following components:
Plasma and and cell fragments or formed elements.

Plasma has water, solutes, and proteins.
These proteins are albumins, globulins, fibrinogen, prothrombin.
The solutes are ions, nutrients, waste products, gases, and some regulatory substances I don't know about.

The other formed elements are platelets, leukocytes ( meaning white and cells, or white blood cells, WBCs), and erythrocytes (meaning red and cells, or red blood cells, RBCs).

The platelets help plugs openings in the circulatory system, such as abrasions or lacerations .

Leukocytes or WBCs are the body's defense. There are five types of leukocytes, which are:
Neutrophils, lymphoctes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.

Each leukocyte has a certain job to do in defending the body.
Some 'eat' pathogens and others produce chemicals that makes us immune to infections.

Formed in the bone marrow, erythrocytes (or RBCs) main function is to carry oxygen (O2) carbon dioxdie (CO2) nutrients and waste to and from the body.

Both help maintain homeostasis of the body.

There are different types of blood too.
A, B, AB, and O. Both negative and positive and each type have different antigens.
This is know as the Rh Factor.
All you need to know is that O- is the universal donor and AB+
is the universal receiver.

That's all I am going to type for now.
If you want to know more, email me.

Cells and organs need oxygen to live and work. They also give off carbon dioxide when they process the oxygen.

Blood picks up oxygen in the lungs and transfers it to the organs through the arteries then returns the carbon dioxide to the lungs through the veins where it is exchanged with new oxygen.

the heart is the pump that makes the blood flow around the loop.

The red blood cells carry 02 to your cells, and carry waste CO2 away to your lungs where it is expelled.

It also carries food to your cells, carries cell wastes to your kidneys, carries chemical messages around your body, carries immune system cells around (to fight disease), and keeps all of your body supplied with water.
