Well I went to Circuit City to buy a 42” LG plasma TV. The salesman starts hyping up the Panasonic telling me how it’s a much better TV, better reviews, blah blah blah. So now I’m stuck I’ve got it narrowed down to 2 televisions but I don’t know much about the features or specs so I want to get some input before I buy. The 2 TV’s are

LG 42" Plasma HDTV (42PC5D) ---- (1,049.00)
• 720p (1024 x 768) resolution
• NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners
• Widescreen (16:9)
• 15,000:1 contrast ratio
• 2 HDMI inputs
• Clear Filter Pro

Or

Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV (TH-42PX75U) ---- (1.099.00)
• 720p (1024 x 768) resolution
• NTSC/ATSC tuners
• Widescreen (16:9)
• 10,000:1 contrast ratio
• 2 HDMI inputs
• Real Black Drive

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ok there’s one other contender I have to throw in here because it was my original choice but the price of the other 2 sets pushed me towards them.

Samsung 42" Plasma HDTV (HP-T4254) ---- (1,249.00)
• 720p (1024 x 768) resolution
• NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners
• Widescreen (16:9)
• 15,000:1 contrast ratio
• 3 HDMI inputs
• SRS TruSurround XT

Thanks again

The no.1 plasma HDTV brand is Pioneer. No. 2 is Panasonic. For quility, reliability, and service, LG isn't even close.
An equivalent Pioneer will cost you 1.5 times as much as the Panasonic. Panasonic is the very best bang for your buck in plasma, and one of the best in LCDs, too. Panasonic - there is really no choice. For once, a TV salesman might be telling the truth.

There probably isn't a lot of difference to the naked eye in the pictures. You might wanna compare the warranties. Take a look at the remotes. See which one is more user friendly for you. Another thing to look at is the speakers and sound if you plan using them. Some people go with the surround sound so the speakers won't be an issue then. Do you need a stand? Do they all come with one? One other thing to look at is the actual appearance of the TV. Which one is looks nicer in appearance? I will mention one last thing. I bought a Panasonic 42 inch plasma a couple years ago. I love mine. I did a lot of research back then. At that time Panasonic gave you the most "bang for your buck". Good Luck!
