Well, Mike, since Christians believe that Christ died so that EVERYONE could have life everlasting, meaning, no one is going to hell, and He sacrificed His life to absolve us of our sins, it's taken care of.

People try to use word games, semantics and attempts to confuse the real issues.

The case of the "born mentally retarded" or the "baby who dies" are clear examples of this.

I certainly believe that God's plan takes all of these cases into account. My personal belief is that the SPIRIT of that person is taught and then convicted by the Holy Spirit to make a choice between accepted or rejecting the love and mercy of the one true God.

Too many doubters focus on the PHYSICAL world when they ask questions of faith...failing to take SPIRITUAL into account at all. The physical body is just a tiny, tiny moment in time compared to the eternal soul.

Oh, and you forgot to ask "what about all the people who died before Jesus came to earth?"

Same answer.

Actually, most Christians agree that the rule applies not only to the mentally retarded but to children and people living in countries who have never heard the Gospel. If a person cannot accept Christ for themselves, they will be judged by their deeds and intent. If a person cannot know right from wrong, they are considered innocent and will be given a place at the Table of the Lord of Hosts.

The job of the Holy Spirit is to come to each person and speak to their spirit and show them who Jesus is and why He died on the cross. In their own spiritual understanding each person can accept or deny Jesus. Same for mentally retarded people. They may not be able to understand spiritual truths in the physical realm, but the spirit within them can. Jesus would never pass anyone up and just send them to hell without giving them the choice of accepting Him.

I believe they're in the same position as little children who pass away - they go to be with the Lord. Only when you have a functioning conscience and still refuse to repent does God hold you accountable. That's why we have a conscience in the first place.

I think God is just. He will pass a fair judgement on everyone of us including mentally retarded people, unborn babies, young children who died. So, I hope you will feel peace in your heart. Just trust God for his unfailing love and wisdom.

True sin is not imputed if the person has no knowledge of it, even though we are born into sin.

If you believed in Jesus and are obedient, then you will be rapture before Jesus show up.

I don't know. Its not my concern. I don't think I am mentally retarded so I can't concern myself about other people. They will be judged accordingly, not by me, so I don't dwell on it.
