Not Lazarus alone, many who were raised by Jesus and Disciples.

So what's the point?

Pauls point is that Judgment is after death, "once" is used to emphasize that death is assured, not that someone who died will not die again.

Here's a modern translation of Hebrews 9:27-28:

Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

We know Christ miraculously recalled at least three persons from death: the daughter of Jairus, the son of the widow of Nain, and Lazarus. A miracle doesn't overthrow the natural law; it is an exception to the law, here, that everyone is destined to face death.

The daughter of Jairus, the son of the widow of Nain, and Lazarus all died again, but we can expect these people who knew and loved Jesus, and who benefited most directly from his healing ministry, were most likely faithful Christians who live with him now and forever.

Cheers,
Bruce

In order to show Jesus was God in the flesh he raised Lazaras from the dead, The Bible does not say when and if Lazarus died again, we presume that he did because of the scripture you quoted. We know from the Bible Enoch didn't die, we know Elijah didn't die, but Lazarus is a mystery, I presume he did, and a very peaceable one to I might add.

When Jesus ressurected Lazarus and the other ones we can read in the NT, there was a purpose: to show God's power. Those people naturally died again, but the text of Hebrews is about the idea of reencarnation, preached by some religions that believe that by reecarnating you'll reach salvation, which is totally against God's plan, otherwise He wouldn't have sent Jesus to die for all of us. serjoliveira@yahoo.com.br

I interpret it as meaning "at least once" in the case of Lazarus. I don't find it contradictory at all because it doesn't say "appointed unto men ONLY once to die..."

Yes. After Jesus raised Lazarus from death, he died again. The Bible doesn't say how long Lazarus lived after he was raised.

Jesus brought him back to life to calm His skeptics. Yes, he did die twice but for a good cause.
