Yes. The last Grand Master of the once-powerful Order of Knights Templar, Jacques DeMolay, suffered his betrayal into the hands of the Church on Friday 13, October 1307. He was imprisoned and later executed by King Phillip the Fair, the French king who had conspired with the Vatican to remove DeMolay. Phillip and Pope Clement V had concluded that the Templars had become altogether too powerful.

In 1307 in the month of October, on Friday the thirteenth the Knights Templar's temples in France were raided and all Templars were arrested and the majority were killed there by bringing an end to the Knights Templar organization. That is where Friday the 13th originated. This was all done under the order of King Phillip and Pope Clement! The other things you have listed (aside from 3, 4 and 6) are unfounded and as for #6, a Coven is a group, not necessarily of 13. As for being unlucky, that is something man had put on the number and day. I have never found that date or day to be unlucky!

Actually, the reason that superstition exists:

"Upon the conclusion of the West's attempted conquest of the Holy Land for Christendom, the Templars still earned great revenues from their lands, minus the cost to arm knights for crusades. They were exceedingly wealthy and had more funds than any European monarch. France was in great debt to the Templar organisation, and its king, Philip le Bel grew increasingly jealous of the wealth of the Knights. In 1307, upon the death of the then Pope, he brought many charges against the knights, including heresy. It is for this day Friday 13th was come to be known as unlucky, for that was the day that Philip arrested, simultaneously, all the Templars in France in a carefully planned operation."

So there you are. Eastern cultures (without the Templar connection) have no notion that Friday the 13th is in any way unlucky.

Don't forget Friday the 13th is when all those camp counselors keep getting killed by Jason.

Seriously, it's just a superstition, like breaking a mirror, and doesn't mean a thing. If you hear that more accidents and bad things happen on Friday the 13th, it's probably true. Not because day is bad luck, but because people THINK it is and the anxiety can cause people to have accidents. Personally Monday is my least favorite day.

Friday the 13th is merely a day on the calendar and the Friday itself merely one day out of seven. The only way it is lucky or unlucky is if people read silly superstition into them and assign them as such.
