Yes, I'm familiar with Jews for Jesus. Actually, they are a proven, mainline Christian group known round the world. What makes them particularly popular among Christians is they know the Jewish law and faith and are Christians (like the disciples) so they can expound and explain a lot of doctrine from the standpoint of the law and from the standpoint of the new covenant. When I was a new Christian I would watch Zola Levit on TV and I read many of his books. They helped me understand in detail a lot of Christian doctrine. I particularly remember the time he described the details of the O.T. Jewish wedding and all the ritual details....what they did and what each detail signified. It was a wonderful explanation that I'll never forget. In fact, I was able to answer a Yahoo question recently regarding the cloth of the wedding night because of what I learned from this group. This group is an evangelistic group that focuses on Israel coming to the knowledge of Christ, but it does a lot to help us all understand Israel and their faith. It is a great group and worthy of our support.

It is obvious that those who follow the Christian faith and those who would call themselves Jewish have different beliefs about what is and isn't a Jew. For a Christian the belief is those who follow Christ who's circumcision is that of the heart (which is what God is really after) the flesh was only an outward sign). For the person who says otherwise it becomes more confusing. Is it by faith or is it by ethnicity? If it is by ethnicity than you are forced to confront the fact that the Jewish race isn't really a pure race as there has been so much intermarriage with other races that you could not really say they are ore or less Jewish. If you say it is religion then how then do you account for the millions of secular Jews born and living in Israel? Are they not Jews? Tough question and tougher answer. Other than that I don't know much about Jews for Jesus.

yes!
They are Jewish persons who practice the traditional Jewish observances but also believe that Jesus was the real messiah so they believe in and celebrate Christian observances
Go see the Liberated Wailing Wall when ever it's in your area. It's really good and they will answer your questions about their faith better than I can.

Yes, and they are *not* Jewish.
This is taken from the reference section of this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews_for_Jesus
1. “"We believe that Jewishness is a birthright. It is inherited from our parents. Our people are not of one culture; we have diverse cultural expressions (Ashkenazi/Sephardi, Georgian/Russian, Ethiopian, Persian, etc.). Our people are not of one religion. While Judaism might be the traditional religion for many Jewish people, Jews are still considered Jewish even though they might be atheists or even if they embrace other beliefs. Those who say that Jews who believe in Jesus are errant Jews or misguided Jews are entitled to their opinions. But they are not entitled to negate our Jewishness. We are Jews by birth and that cannot change."
2. "There is virtual unanimity across all denominations [of Judaism] that Jews for Jesus are not Jewish." (Kaplan, Dana Evan. The Cambridge Companion to American Judaism, Cambridge University Press, Aug 15, 2005, pp. 139-140).
3. "For most American Jews, it is acceptable to blend some degree of foreign spiritual elements with Judaism. The one exception is Christianity, which is perceived to be incompatible with any form of Jewishness. Jews for Jesus and other Messianic Jewish groups are thus seen as antithetical to Judaism and are completely rejected by the majority of Jews". (Kaplan, Dana Evan. The Cambridge Companion to American Judaism, Cambridge University Press, Aug 15, 2005, p. 9).
4. Jewish groups:
o "To make the record clear, Jews for Jesus is a Christian missionary organization – period." Jews for Jesus: Jewish or Christian? You Decide, Jews for Judaism website, retrieved September 11, 2006.
o "Messianic Jewish organizations, such as Jews for Jesus, often refer to their faith as fulfilled Judaism, in that they believe Jesus fulfilled the Messianic prophecies. Although Messianic Judaism claims to be Jewish, and many adherents observe Jewish holidays, most Jews regard Messianic Judaism as deceptive at best, fraudulent at worst. They charge that Messianic Judaism is actually Christianity presenting itself as Judaism." (Balmer, Randall. Encyclopedia of Evangelicalism, Baylor University Press, Nov 2004, p. 448).

They wouldn't be called Jews then, they would be called Christians. Jews don't believe Jesus was a prophet, God, or the son of God. And this is according to their own Old Testament. Why do you think Jesus was crucified by Jews? Because he did blasphemy against God. It even mentions this in Luke. Thanks for the thumbs down.

To Alan, MANY CHRISTIANS CALL GOD ALLAH! Have you ever spoken to an Orthodox Christian like a Copt? Even Protestand Arabs call God Allah in Arabic because it is the Arabic word for God.
