Ask your teacher, of course!

Simple. Read. Study. Meditate. Read. Practice. Think. Extrapolate.
Then repeat.
Finding or choosing a Wiccan or craft name is the least important part of anything. Focus on the basics first, then move to theory and deeper levels of practice.

Its true you dont have to have one. and even some people have two. It is totally 100% up to you, what it is how you get it. If you are new to wicca I would sugest waiting until you have studies a bit more and fully understand things in wicca. Sometimes people pick names simply sound cool. They end up with a name like Blodeuwedd Standing-Stone Heart, or Stone Elven Ice, or even Raven Firestorm Serene. However they later lean the ture meaning of a standing stone or raven and find out that name is not for them.

Lastly I'll leave you with this, and most hate this answer for magical name but it is so true.....just wait, when you find your magical name, or better yet it finds you, you will just know it. it is as simple and complex as that.

When I see mention of the word "wicca" I automatically think of an initiatory tradition going back about 50 years.

IF you "signed up" as a novice to do the "year and a day" bit by way of an intro, your mentor will help you with this question.

IF you just fancy yourself as "wiccan" 'cos you woke up some morning and decided that this label seemed right for you (and this seems rather prevalent in the USA in particular) ... you can go whistle Dixie for your answer.

It is something you chose or a HP or HPs gives you. That of course means they are teaching you and know you. Meditation is a good start really. You can also ask before going to bed to hear your name. It may take a while and you may not be open to hearing it. Just remember a name is important. It doesn't mean you have to create a new name for yourself. Your regular name will work just as well.

My favorite bit of advice comes from Kaathryn MacMorgan, who suggested that you envision your new name on a checkbook. If you burst out laughing at the image, keep trying. Don't feel that you need to end up with something like Dolphin Fluffy-Rainbow.

You choose it yourself. It should be symbolic and relate to your personality. Such as: my favorite animal is the Raven, my favorite color is red and an arrow is a symbol of my patron goddess.

So if I picked a name it would be: Raven Red-Arrow

Of course, those things are not the only ones you should look into when picking a name. Look inside, what makes you...you?

Good luck.

Nandina is right, you will know if and when you find one. But what makes you think you NEED a separate religious/ritual name.

There are very few paths that require a "renaming", so I would not worry about it.

Here's the process: Every day you need to hug a tree and say you love it. Eventually, when you find the right tree, it will hug you back and tell you your Wiccan name. My name is LeafBlight. Do it before the leaves fall because the trees get sleepy then. Good luck.

You'll know if/when you find it. That's probably the only way I can explain it.

But if you "absolutely positively can't live without one" right now, try this link:

But please realize that the article is meant as satire, not serious.
