I mention it because the reputable publication "Dogs in Canada" Annual breeders guide had a full page write up on it, and gave it a thumbs up for use on animals. I have used it, will continue to use it and it has NEVER been detrimental to any of my dogs coats. It is vegetable oil based, non-toxic, deodorant free and biodegradable. The same cannot be said of many products including Dawn that many push.

I have never used it and never would use it. Are you sure the Murphy's Oil Soap in Canada is the same one sold in the US? Here it smells like a nasty petroleum type product. We use it on the pews at church, but I would never put it on an animal.

The Murphy's Oil Soap website claims it has no harmful oils or chemicals....but harmful to what? That it doesn't say. You'd better be careful what you believe without talking to the makers of the product, to see if they endorse using it on animals.

I'm not certain that the Murphy's Oil soap that is used for furniture and floors is the same as the Murphy's Oil pet product. But even if it is, the pet product says it is good for using on saddles, not on the pet itself. I have some for cleaning saddles and it says nothing about applying to your pet. I don't have the floor stuff so can't compare.

Before using it, I'd use the contact us on this site and ask the experts whether or not it can be used on a dog. You'd think that in their faq or discussions you'd see something about use on animals but I found absolutely nothing.

Yes, I tried it years ago because the Sharpei people recommended it since they use it on their dogs' dry coats. I didn't seem to work on my dog and is a soapless type soap, I really like to see a LATHER.

I've used it and it does help to eliminate the fleas but it will leave the dog's coat a bit oily.

I never thought to use it on my dogs, though I do use it to clean my parrot's cage...
