It is the same church.

Some liturgical practices have been modified (mass said in the vernacular instead of Latin, Priest faces the congregation instead of having his back to them, exchange of peace), but the Church is essentially the same.

Yes and no.

While all of the basic teachings are exactly the same as they were in the beginning of the Church, the Catholic Church has been evolving, growing, and maturing in the Holy Spirit for almost 2,000 years.

The Holy Spirit is constantly guiding the Church closer and closer to the Kingdom of God.

With love in Christ.

Hello
I was once Catholic and I think the church has changed little. It is the morals that have changed.Society in all of the world is in a tail spin. Especially in the US.
I also feel that the Catholic church was wrong from its start when Constantine started it. The apostle Peter has nothing to do with the Catholic church. When Constantine started the church many of the pagan nations with their beliefs entered into it bringing their traditions and demonic teachings.Things like the trinity, immortality of the soul and many pagan holidays which were given christian names.
You can check encyclopedias to conferm what I am saying.
Sorry if I sound curel.
Thanks for your time, Bill

It hasn't changed that much. Just becuase there are no latin masses or we're not obligated to eat fish every Friday doesn't mean is changed. Is still the same Catholic church it has been and will be.

Churches are not the way to god.
It is the message, not the building that matters. The church was built by men. What more can you really expect?

Edit: I wasn't referring to the actual building either. It was a metaphor. I was making the point that the small details aren't what's important. (Like the different sects.)
As long as they follow the bible I don't see what the problem is. The underlying faith is the same.

In our area in the 1940,s & 50's the Catholic church was throwing people into prison for distributing Bibles, They can't get away with that here anymore.

I had a personal friend that spent time in prison in Quebec for handing out Bibles in Montreal, charged by the Catholic church.

People are more open now. Consequently, their church has become more exposed. In the 40s and 50s they would have been too proud and ashamed to report them, even though there were just as many then, if not more, as there are now.
