It began in March 2005 and ended in mid May. About 20 peopel from each faith participated in writing the dialogue which was five rounds. The five dialoges are found in this link
http://groupdialog.org/humanrights/results.htm
but most interresting is this last dialogue written by Muslims and Jews together:
We have agreed on the need to place activism in behalf of human rights at the center of our shared agenda, to honor each other's faith traditions, to promote respect and understanding between our communities, to actively interrupt the teaching of hate and to create activities and actions in Southern California which could further these agendas in our local communities and in the Middle East. I would like to see us focus on several areas:

1) Establish spiritual partnering between local synagogues and mosques for the study of text, history and values that emphasizes Muslim and Jewish convivencia.

2) Establish joint efforts to monitor and respond to human rights violations of the Muslim community in Sourthern California in relationship to the Patriot Act, as well as monitor anti-Jewish actions as they occur in our communities.

3) Actively promote Jewish and Palestinian peacemakers who work together toward coexistence and an end to state and communal violence in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and the Middle East as part of our work together.

4) Actively promote the bringing together of youth in our communities and involve them in work for human rights that arise from their concerns.

5) Bring together circles of Muslim and Jewish women who can support each other and learn about each other's unique role in Muslim and Jewish life.

Salaam, Shalom

Mashtin Baqir:
I don't have time to reply to every part of your question but what do the nazi have to do with islam and were did you get your information about apes and pigs. In the quran god talks about a group of jews who repeled against him and so he punished them by making them look like apes and pigs. He didn't talk about all the jews. Also I am not talking about the history and if you still want to talk about history, the jews also hurt the arabs and still hurting them in isreal and lebanon. That's if you want to mix religion with politics. I am not saying that what the palestinains do is justified but be sure to look at all sides not only the side that supports your view.
Alos in jewish schools the jews are taught to hate the muslims and they teach them that mohammed was a false prophet. They also teach them that Muslims hate them which is not true.
Muslims only fight those who fight them and don't take those redical muslims as an example. We dont consider them muslims.

No muslims force the jews to convert to islam. Islam and Judaism shar a lot of things. Sura 2 in the Quran says "There is no compulsion in Islam" (Qur'an, 2:256).

Sorry for that. All the guys above gave me very respectful answers and I still and will still consider Judaism a great religion and many of its followers are great people but there are always people who are filled with animosity and never know how to forget about the past and seperate politics from religion.

Lots of things look great on paper but are too hard to put into practice. This sounds great but there are both Jews and Muslims alike who would not accept it. I am Jewish and I have to admit that I woudl have a problem tolerating some of the religious beliefs of Muslims (and am sure they would have the same problem with me).
In practice, it can't work but it would be nice if it could.

Please be aware that Islam cannot countenance the Jewish religion. This is a fact and does not depend on what you or I believe.

In the centuries after Muhammad there have been periods when the Jews were able to live in relative peace under Arabs, but their position was never secure. They were generally viewed with contempt by their Arab neighbors, and their survival was always predicated on their abject subordination and degradation to them. Mass murders of Jewish "protected people" started in Morocco as early as the eighth century, where Idris I wiped out whole communities. A century later Baghdad's Caliph al-Mutawakkil designated a yellow badge for Jews (setting a precedent that would be followed centuries later in Nazi Germany), and synagogues were destroyed throughout Mesopotamia in 854-859. In Tripolitania, Jews were considered the property of their Arab masters, who would bequeath the Jews to their heirs upon death. In the 12th century, after anti-Jewish riots, the contemporaries commented that their population had 'greatly declined.

The criticisms of the Jews in the Quran resulted in the persecution of Jews in Muslim lands--often slavery, deportation, land expropriation, and massacres, resulting from the permanent, uniquely Islamic institutions of jihad and dhimmitude. They had to wear on their clothes the image of an ape. Specifically, the 9th century Tunisian Qadi, Ahmed b. Talib compelled the dhimmi Jews to wear upon their shoulder a patch of white cloth (riqa') that bore the image of an ape, [the Christians were required to wear the image of a pig], and to nail onto their doors a board bearing the sign of a monkey. Apes are mentioned in Judaic texts, but zoomorphic signs were never imposed in the Jewish kingdoms, as was done for Jews and Christians in Islamic lands. Hence the actual implementation of such discriminatory zoomorphic badges is particular to Islam, and the reasons for this must be examined independently, and honestly, without any reference to Judaism.

Jihadists today invoke the Quran to justify the worst terrorist crimes. Throat slitting of infidels is mentioned in the Quran. Al-Mawardi (d. 1058), the prominent 11th century jurist quoted this verse, specifically, When you encounter those who deny (the Truth) then strike (their) necks. (Quran 47 :4), in his learned discussion of jihad. This ritual execution is also mentioned in other Muslim legal texts and in narratives of Christian and prominent Muslim historians. Today it is performed against infidels and recorded on videotape for the edification of Muslim audiences.

Hope that helps.

It's a great thing! I hope it can continue and grows. The Patriot Act part should be removed though because it has saved lives by stopping terrorist attacks before they occur. Maybe someday it won't be needed, but for now it is.

God Bless.

Many thanks for telling us about this, what a wonderful project it is!

We soooooo need more things like this.

Have a star for a fab question!

EDIT: I should just quickly clarify: Jewish children are NEVER taught anything negative about either Islam or Muslim people - this happens neither in Israel or in Jewish schools outside Israel!

Islam will never come in remembrence of God's people.

Instead, it will be counted as the serpents of the earth, and cast down below them.
