A little harsh on the medication thing. I personally do not persecute anyone. I am saved and I pray for the people in my life to follow my lead. No one professes to be an atheist because atheists are in the minority. (probably the same reason you cannot ask race on employment applications anymore) I sure hope that the only Christians you have come across are not persecuting you. They should really be praying for you. And as far as being invisible, you are missing the boat. I answered your question on an open forum in which I am sure many other people have read your question, sounds to me like you have been heard.

Fundies fear what they do not understand.
Because they fear their 'god' it is beyond their comprehension that anyone could suggest he doesn't exist, let alone lead their lives as though he doesn't exist … without fear of retribution.
Most xians in general Fear their 'god'.
Why am I sure about that?
They believe their 'god' knows everything they think, say and do, 24/7 and in their delusion they believe he wants them to suck up to him 24/7 otherwise they will be caste into the fiery pits of hell to scream and burn for all of eternity.
How is it possible to Love something you Fear?
It isn’t.
Love under threat and or duress is always Fear.
Atheists just don’t go in for all that childish scare-the-children-bogey-man-stuff.
We are a bigger mystery to them than 'god' and it's why they're comfortable relegating us to Satan’s little helpers.
The more radical among them have even suggested in Y!A that atheists should be exterminated.

The only thing that atheists have is education and perhaps a career in one of the sciences.
That shouldn't bother church folks, since they don't care much for education anyway.
But I've incurred plenty hate response, including enough bogus Violation Notices to cover an entire wall, that I suspect they really do freak out about atheists; and in particular, questions about the Bible god.

They feel they are being persecuted when they are prevented from persecuting others. Actually there is a senator from Californai who admitted to not believing in god/any religion a few months back. Forget his name.
