I have been a Catholic/Christian for 53 years and in the last month or so I am losing my faith and trust in people, I feel life is letting me down, and when I ask God for help I am not getting a reply

Even on this site I asked questions and no one answers, much, I feel I am not wanted or loved by a lot of my friends on this site, as they have turned against me for something that happened a month ago, which was not my doing, but I got the blame for it.

How do I get faith and trust back, it is tearing me apart?

Any advice please?

I have not been coming here as much because of a lot of hate emails I have received over the incident, which happened in R&S, which is hard to talk about

My dear sister, it would seem that many on here do not know or understand what you have been through, but we that love you do.
you are still on my contact list, but I have been so busy the last month, that I have spent very little time on this forum, but be assured that i have been praying for your healing.
and I pray now that you can set aside the old hurts, and forgive those that have trespassed against you.
God is always with you, and will always be there for you, i have seen many that miss you and have asked about you, so you have been missed and we are hoping that you will return, with the beautiful questions and answers that were your trademark before all of this happened.
and as you have probably seen, Father K. has returned, and we can only pray that there is healing in all that has gone before.

by the way I love the new look and the new name, it fit you.

A few days ago, I stood before a thunder and lightening storm and yelled into the heavens "ok God, give me all you've got, do to me all you will, I can not take anymore and what ever you are going to do to me....let's do it now and get this over with!" I can't take anymore! Angel Eyes, everyday something was going wrong, my friends were bringing me down, car broke down, my truck broke down, the well for my water went out and money was not coming in and so much more was happening....the way things were happening I wasn't going to make it through the winter for due to all the repairs and my extra money was gone. I tried to call my best girlfriend and dialed the wrong number and on the other end of the phone was a friend that had prayed for me only three hours before and she came to see and talk to me in the midst of my crying. Everything has changed in three days. I made a decision to change my life that wasn't working....sell out and retire. Soon I very well could be a homeless but with money in the bank. I need to find where I am suppose to be, but I know that this isn't the place. God hasn't left you, he's helping you to find your way and let me tell you it can be rough when you resist. My problem was that I didn't know what I was suppose to do and I still don't but, I know that doors will be opened when I get there. I had to take a leap of faith. During all of my turmoil someone wrote in and asked what is this song "during your darkest hour is there a blank check for your soul," or something to that effect. Think about that! Do you see what is going on here....? Isn't it all about your soul?

Wow. We all have a crisis of faith from time to time. If you had people turn against you for something that was not your fault and you explained to them, then they were not your friends to begin with.
If you are asking God to help you and don't think you are not getting a reply maybe it is just that you are not getting the reply you want and you have to look deeper to see what the answer is.
When I begin to lose faith I go outside and go for a walk. I can look at the water in the creek (or when we lived by the beach I could look at the ocean), the leaves, the trees, the sand, the animals etc. I see God everywhere.
God can send his answer in ways that are hard to see and no matter what your faith (I am Jewish) I believe he hears and answers everyone but sometimes I have to really search to see what the answer was. Sometimes it is clear and I am able to relax immediatly. Sometimes it is clear and it is not the answer I wanted. I have faith that Gods answers are always fair and he will be there for me.
Maybe you need something new in your life. A new hobby or a new charity to work with to feel meaning in your life. That helped me at one point in time.
I wish I could help you more.

If you think faith is having god make life easy and answer all your day to day questions then you don't understand faith. And "life is letting you down"? and "your trust in people"?

God wants you to grow up and ask for guidance and strength.
Not for him to fix it!!! You need to see what he wants you to learn from this.

Try to look at this clearly and see what you did to cause this problem. Own what was your part and see clearly what others did. If others that you though were your friends have turned against you because of gossip, then they were not good true friends. I know this hurts but those that are truly your friends will see the truth and not blame you for what others did.

Now for the hard part.
Look at the situation clearly and OWN the part that you caused. You will grow and learn if you will look at it truthfully.

Good luck.

If what you did was truly bad ask for forgiveness from everyone, especially GOD! But you ultimantley have to trust God, to say you are getting no reply is not true, I mean you can't expect God to go in front of you and tell you the exact steps you have to take, just do what is right, and if you are having some kind of crisis, go to church and pray the rosary, meditate deeply, that is how you'll truly talk to God, but you ultimately have to have BLIND FAITH, for when you believe in God, who you can't smell, touch, or see, or have any evidence that he even exists, that is when you'll truly let God know you are a devoted to him!!! And when you are righteous and faithful, God will be there right behind, silently guiding you along your life, and who knows, miracles might happen!!!

I feel the same way most of the time, well all I can tell you is not to give up and keep praying. Maybe this is why you feel this way because you dont have enough faith in God. I think it would be best to talk to a pastor, or just someone.
Sorry if I didn't give you the advice you were looking for and maybe it would be better for you to serve one religion.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. How much time do you spend in devotion to God in prayer? You said, you pray, well how much time do you give God in "listening to HIM?" Being sensitive to hear the spirit of God speaking does require more than just speaking what you have to say to God. Sometimes it requires fasting and you must come to God believing not doubting..For faith is what moves the hand of God and in order for faith to grow, testing and trials must come so instead of acting as though you have no faith, this is your day. Get into God's word and meditate on the promises of God and thank God for the work He is doing in your life. Get around people and serve them with anything and everything God has given you. Buy small Bibles or Gospel Tracts and give them to others. Get with prison ministry groups and go and visit those who need friends and get your eyes off of yourself and your faith will flourish and you will experience God like you have never before and get out of this pity party and earn your Crowns that Jesus has waiting for you..Your Brother in Christ.

So you say that you are asking God and he's not answering you. Well are you sure that you are listening or open to his answers? Maybe you have received a response, but weren't open to it or were focusing on something too hard and weren't listening for it.
Maybe you should just ask someone to coffee, sometimes some of God's best work is delivered over very casual encounters. You'll receive an answer, just keep listening. It's never been easy being a Christian.

God will never let you down. Maybe He will use this to show you that you cannot fully depend on other people, they will let us down sooner or later, He never will. God is answering you, sometimes we are not still enough to hear. Just call on Jesus, He is there for you. He said He will never leave us or forsake us. I believe that one of the hardest times in our life is when we don't feel the presence of God, another is when we feel betrayed by those whe love and depend on. Ask God to take away the pain of loneliness. Just rejoice, when someone talks about feeling bad on this site you will have compassion toward them and be able to give them encouragement. He will walk through this time with you. Look at all the answers you received, you are loved. Don't worry about the emails, we all get them.

Hi Angel Eyes, I know how you feel about losing faith, especially about feeling like you are talking to yourself sometimes when you pray. It is truly hard when a struggle in life never seems to end, but He has a plan for your life. You need to trust in Him. He will never give up on you. Everyone here has said things that can sometimes overwhelm us, but it's important to remember that God is always close, even if sometimes He feels distant, stick to Him and your faith will strengthen.

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).

There are many wonderful assurances in Scripture that our God is a prayer-answering God, as well as innumerable testimonies throughout history, by multitudes of praying believers, that He has answered prayer, often in amazing ways. On the other hand, there are many, many prayers that have not been answered, and the question is: “Why?”

In some cases, of course, it is just that the prayer has not been answered yet, in which case the believer needs merely to continue in prayer, for “men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1). In some cases, it may be that the request was not in God’s perfect will, for, “if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us” (I John 5:14). We should always pray as did Christ Himself: “Not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42), for His will is always best.

There are times, however, when God would desire to answer our prayers, but is hindered by our own actions and attitudes, since He will only act in consistency with His own holy nature and loving wisdom. Some are listed below:

1. Sin in the heart: “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).
2. Unforgiving attitude: “When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any” (Mark 11:25).
3. Carnal motive: “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:3).

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (II Corinthians 4:17). God Bless. keep holding onto God.
