In your opinion, what is a holier-than-thou person?

The best example is a gal I know at our Church. She attends every Church function imaginable, volunteers like crazy, is very generous with her time. *But* in my humble opinion, she looks down upon those that don't serve as much as her or misses a Church service every now and then. Though I respect her efforts, she seems to look down on others that don't do the same.
To me, it is a loose slang term for one that thinks they are better than another. Could apply to many things.

I think you need to ask yourself "what is holiness"?
There is such a thing as true holiness. The radical idea of holiness is a being set apart from the world, unto God. The Bible clearly calls men to holiness, both under the Old Covenant and the New. In the Old Covenant it was more a matter of ceremonialism. In the New Covenant, it is a matter of the Spirit. It means separating oneself from the world and its corrupted value system and living in harmony with God's principles and value system. God values human souls, and desires to see people repent from sin, believe in His appointed Savior Jesus Christ, and live to promote the Kingdom of God, in faith and love.

There is a false holiness which is based on self righteousness and looks down on others. This is not the holiness of Christ and His followers.

They are relentless on guilt tripping and scaring you into accepting their own beliefs, which they possess the "magic" wisdom that I do not.
