Sorry, all I have is the ninth edition of "Allowable Stress Design", the Second edition of LRFD is out of print, and the current edition of the "Manual of steel construction" (13th edition) has a non-member price of $350, so I'm not going to buy one. (But if you want to, here is a link: http://www.aisc.org/Template.cfm?Section=Browse_by_Category&Template=/Ecommerce/ProductDisplay.cfm&ProductID=2283 )

However, the ASD manual shows a value of 260kips

capability of metals is often measured by ability of the tensile capability by way of fact the biggest diploma even though it particularly is not the sole belongings as hardness is yet another super factor. particularly, iron is comfortable and metallic is hard. undeniable iron is stretchy and would not corrode rapidly, while metallic is lots stiffer and corrodes extra rapidly. The tensile capability of chilly worked iron is a few million/2 that of an effortless metallic, likewise the hardness is a few million/2 that of metallic too. organic iron, that's never used, is even weaker and softer lower back and slightly extra like softer components like copper and aluminium. the place confusion is obtainable in is that there is yet another iron - forged iron - that's truthfully diverse to the two iron and metallic. forged iron is extremely difficult and hard yet quite brittle so its residences are very diverse.
