Just do not get your new computer with Vista BASIC. Minimum would be Vista Home Premium.

We have it on our new laptop with no problems. All the mainstream commercial packages, like Office and others work.

You may want to disable UAC and run as an administrator which will defeat many of the security features of Vista.

Vista seems fine to me. The downside I find is most software and alot of hardware are not Vista compatible. Thats true for even shelf items, I last 2 items I bought was not Vista ready and thats only this last week! The good things is you can get the driver downloads for free. I only had 1 software from motorola that charges to ugrade there pruduct to Vista. Good luck

the problem with vista is it is new & software/printer manufactures have decided not to support existing products prefering you to buy new short sighted because they will only alienate customers
