Do you mean just regularly curled? - if so, yes, it'll get messed up -- unless you have a super-duper bathing cap which will still crush your hair anyway.
If you're getting it permed, I think the exposure to chlorine so soon afterward might ruin the potency of the perm.
Why can't you wait until the evening or day after swimming to enjoy your curly hair to the maximum??

I am a year round swimmer and many people have the same issue. (If you swim year round your hair gets use to it.) But for summer the answer is simple, don't flat iron or blow dry it. This makes yur hair frizzy and that's really bad because the sun makes your hair more frizzy. Just let it dry natrual and it won't be have bad and you will have the naturual look of summer!

Well since it's for P.E i'm guessing your ganna have to wet your hair, so maybe wear a swimming cap over your hair.
