Since it's in October try Halloween...have the kids dress up in costume, if there are older siblings or neighbors/ friends/family willing to help at your house set up stations so the kids "can go trick-or-treating" and go buy some plastic jack-o-lanterns(probably can find them at a dollar store), rent a semi-scary movie not too scary (tell parents in advance which movie, because some parents might not want their child watching it), make or buy (if thry have) Halloween themed games (bingo...you can use Halloween stickers/ pictures instead of numbers, pin the the nose on the Jack-O-Lantern).....for favors you can get pretty much anything that Halloween symbols on it like: stickers (jack-o-lanterns, cany, withces, ghosts, etc.), pads, pencils, high-bounce balls...you can get stuff like that at the dollar store or party store
if your daughter doesn't want a Halloween theme ask her what she wants....say "If you could do anything in the world what would it be? and with taking that answer you can find inexpensive ways to fulfill as best you can.
Good Luck! And I hope the party is a great lasting memory!

Have them come dressed as there favorite American Idol and parade throughout the night as that person on a Super Star Status. The best Actress wins (of course that wll be your daughter, it's her party). Or have a box full of dress up clothes with shoes and have them dress up and sing with the American Idol game. Or get the costumes for the characters from the musical and have them perform. Have fun whatever you do and don't go nuts. Good Luck!

It depends what your daughter likes, but theme parties are always awesome. If she likes halloween, have a halloween party, complete with costumes and prizes and bobbing for apples. If she likes girly things, have a mermaid party or a princess part complete with treats and crowns etc...
If you are looking for something low maintenace for your home, take your daughter and some of her friends (maybe 9 of them, because she is turning 9) to a movie. Let her pick the movie, let them share a huge tub of popcorn, and take pictures.
Also, something that might be fun is to have your daughter pick the theme and help make everything.... place cards, decorations, invitations etc....
Have fun! Daughters are wonderful.

What does she like? Can you do a halloween birthday party? That might be fun. Maybe do a princess party where all the girls get to dress up. Play games at home, order pizza, get a jump house, and just use decorations to make it really special. If you give me more information, I have a lot of ideas.

ooooh.....ok...
first activity:
buy like 5 (or more, if there's more guests) small plastic buckets with lids then draw colorful questions marks all over them with markers and fill one bucket with hallween candy like candy corn, mini candy bars...ect. and the others with 1 apple each. then put all the buckets in a circle on a table, blindfold whoevers going first, spin the kid around a couple of times, and make them put their hand on a bucket. u decide what happens 4 the rest.
2nd activity:
it's like 5:00 now, so you pull out the dress-up box and tell the to dress-up 4 dinner which will be in an hour or so and believe me, they will LOVE dressing up and it will take them the whole hour.
3rd activity:
after dinner, it's time to bring out the CDs and sing along.
(rent a karoke machine, u can find karoke cds at Wal-Mart)
the girls will love singing along with the microphone and dancing.
4th activity:
it's like 8:30 now,
ok 4 this acticity u will need help. get ur sister to come over or your friends teenage daughter. makeover the girls one by one. with glitter, u know the stuff....
i would say curfew 4 the party would be like 9 2 10:30.

How about having some teenaged girls come over (hire them?) and doing make up and nails and hair for the girls? I did this when my daughter turned 7 and everyone loved it. My neighbor who was about 16 came over with 2 of her friends and they did make-up, etc for about 15 girls. You can take pictures of them too.
Or you could go to a local YMCA or gym and have a swimming party.
Costume party with activities like bobbing for apples?

hehehe, how about a make over and dress up party? your local party supply and thrift shop will have all kinds of fun costume jewelry and glam dresses, and you can ask the other moms to bring their old stuff.
recruit a few of the local teenagers, or the other moms, and do simple pedicures, nail painting, do their makeup, hair, etc. glam it up, and make everything seem very adult like, they love that around her age. you could also ask your local avon representative, usually theyll give you a very reasonable price for doing such a party, and most of the time give out cute little samples.
after, you could do a tea party, serving tea in real cups and saucers, with individual little cakes, and other tea treats. again, adult tea party, not too little girl or shell probably freak out. rofl. good luck!

For my daugher's ninth birthday I bought a whole lot of beads and fittings, and some little wooden boxes amd things to decorate them with, and the girls made their own jewellry chests to take home. They had such a good time I barely managed to get them away from it to eat party tea!

Depending on what your child likes, do a themed treasure hunt. My grandparents made up a whole story with clues and made us work together to find the treasure (goodie bags). Make some little extra tasks for them to do in order to get the next clue. (i.e., building a tower together using all the blocks, rolling up the birthday girl in toilet paper/streamers, and other little things like that.) Another party that was alot of fun was a hawaiian party I went to, everyone wore grass skirts and leis and we did limbo and made triopical "crowns" out of wire and fake flowers. just use your imagination and base it on what your daughter likes.
