is not it true that these surveys are typically done from a slice of college students, who are the most likely to have become atheists at the feet of the atheist liberal god hating professors?

It depends what religion that you are. I read a study that was conducted on intelligence among religious people. The study tested two things which religions where the most educated and which religions had the highest IQ's. The answer turned out to be the same for both answers. That Jews and Mormons are the most educated and most intelligent people in there religions. whereas Fundies and Jehovah's witnesses where the least educated and the least intelligent As they were looking at religions Atheist were excluded. so a study comparing atheists education and intelligence with the results of the study would need to be conducted to see whether atheists or jews were more educated and intelligent.

Without wishing to sound partizan, I think the problem is that religion gathers a lot of individuals at the very low end of the spectrum. Religion provides simple answers, and if you're a simple person that's going to appeal more than something based on hard science. This therefore doesn't exclude the multitude of intelligent theists out there. But the AVERAGE is dragged down by a very weak bottom end. A more accurate indicator in each case would be the MEDIAN score. I guess it might still be lower, but nowhere near as much.

LOL. The first thing you have to find out is who conducted the test!
If Christians conducted it I bet the results would have been different!
I am not saying the information is wrong, I am just saying that it is human nature to prove your beliefs are correct. The beliefs of the researchers have a direct result on the finial interpretation of the data!

Most religions require that a certain amount of faith be issued to it without question. Unfortunately, most people with a high IQ question everything. It's fact and reason that drive our more intelligent populous, and to be required to let that go to acquire an ultimate reward or pay an ultimate penalty is beyond their comprehension. It's dealing with only what can be proven beyond all doubt and with scientific methodolgy that causes more intelligent people to be atheists.

Where is your proof? The majority of geniuses are religious. Blaise Pascal, Isaac Newton, many others. The vast majority of top scientists in their fields are Christians.

Someone asks this question about once a week. I've yet to see one actually cite the supposed study. When you can tell me where to see the results of this test and who conducted it, please give me a holler. I can't possibly comment on something I haven't seen.

Provide the link so that we might all see this information.
Scientific proof is very important in these instances. Otherwise, this is unworthy of any consideration, according to many people.

The Bible says that God will use the simple things to confound the wise. In other words mans intellectual ability gets in the way of His simple truth.

Because God said He would make fools out of those who call themselves wise, and make fools to be wiser than the kings best counselors.
Luckily NOT every genius is too smart for their own good.
