Often we are accused of offering things that we don't. I'd like to find out what others DO offer.

Myself, I offer the first cup of coffee every morning to my Gods, as well as libations of alchohol and offerings of incense to celebrate various festivals.

I am Asatru/Forn Sidr and I live right next to some old growth forest, so I pour out a handful of grain and feed, and say the following prayer which I composed to the Reginn (gods and goddesses):

I greet this day, At Delling's [the elf of dawn] bright door,
My spirit reaches out, across Yggdrasill,
My will to work
May I make the best use of the time given me,
And may all my work give goodness to Yggdrasill
Ye Holy Reginn, bear witness
That all my work be holy, right and true,
And give glory to my name and honor to the Reginn,
And may the Holy Reginn show a sign of wonder and joy,
That they have seen my work,
And their love and luck go with me.
May it be so

If any other Asatruar or heathens like this prayer, please feel free to borrow it. I think it is pleasing to the Reginn.

Incense and candles (though I feel those are more for my own focus than anything). Libations of alcohol, regularly. I have offered up my own blood on occasion (I'm sure I'll be hearing about this one later).

I offer myself. Every day, I go out on my upper deck, stretch up toward the sky, and start with the East, casting a circle as I move to the South, the West and the North,

East, South, West, North

Inspiration, Transformation, Meditation, Slumber and Re-birth

Wind and Eagle, Snake and dragon, Fish and Dolphin, Redwoods and Mountains,

Air, Fire, Water, Earth...

and then I raise my hands up to the sky and whisper "Spirit"
and bring my hands to my heart, and whisper 'how may I serve you today?"

I look for ways every day to help our Mother Earth, Gaia, by recycling, driving a hybrid, teaching my students to recycle, not using the dryer, etc, but I also look for those little opportunities to do something, and something usually appears. Like one day I was in the grocery store line and a lady was buying some laundry detergent and I had a bottle of a biodegradable, detergent-free laundry soap, and in the course of our conversation, she asked me about it, so I told her how much better it is for the environment, and I figured she didn't know about how you can tell what plastic bottles you can recycle,(by looking for a little triangle on the bottom of the bottle) and she was so interested and wanted to do something, so she went back into the store to exchange her soap for the same one I had, and it felt so great!

It is moments and times when She calls upon us to help Her, and I offer myself and my service to my Goddess, the Lady Mother Earth.

Terrific question! And I hope you don't mind that I by answering your question, I was serving you know who, bc who knows who might read this and learn for the first time about the triangle on the bottom of that bottle that they have just been tossing into the regular garbage. You can RECYCLE IT! Yea!!!!!

Bright Blessings,
Lady Morgana )0(

I like the coffee....I think I'll start doing that!
As for the usual. I had a bowl of apples that I kept full for the longest time but I admit has gotten away from me. In the spring and summer I try to keep flowers on the table.

Offering things we don't like? ::blinks in confusion:: What an odd suggestion....

I offer the same food I'm eating - good wheat bread, honey, butter, cheese, meat, milk, mead.... Something good and wholesome, certainly, but it's part of the same meal that I eat. I set aside a whole portion, mind you, not just scraps, but I make sure that I've eaten the same stuff. It's just good hospitality.

Mead. Sometimes milk and honey.
On special occasions, my own blood. When I just want something to serve as a reminder, i light a candle or incense.

I don't make offerings every day, but when I do, it's some sort of drink, usually alcoholic.
